Re: Trunk Spring Adjustment

I completely agree. I was only going to attempt to do it only if I have the proper tools. I don't want to rip my face off in an attempt to keep my trunk open.

There's a Type SH on my local...

Re: Trunk Spring Adjustment

Ah, okay. That was one of the conflicting information I found.

So would I need the left spring from the Type SH? That seems to be the only spring with different part numbers between the Base and...

Re: Trunk Spring Adjustment

That's what I thought. But from my quick research, the only thing needed is to adjust the springs.

Trunk Spring Adjustment

I basically got my car to the way I like it after 5+ years of owning it. The one thing that always bothered me was that the trunk never stayed open due to the weight of the spoiler.

Does anyone...

Re: The blue connector to check engine codes

Why not go to Autozone and have them check what codes you have? They should do a code scanning for free.

You could also just buy an OBD-II scanner. There are bluetooth ones that connect to your...

Re: Game Over - 1997 Prelude

I agree. If it's the ignition switch, try and see if you got the recall done. Or go to O'Reilly and buy the ignition switch for $35.

Re: Bb6 with blue top?

Look at the engine stamp to determine what engine you have. Previous owners could have just swapped/painted the valve cover.

Re: Horn does not beep when locked?

Does your parking lights flash when you lock your car? Are you using the factory fob? Is there an aftermarket alarm system?

The horns and lights should flash if you have the factory optional...

Re: Knock Sensor HELP

I got an eBay one, too. Thing didn't do squat.

I just soldered the wires inside the old, broken sensor. Car has been running fine for 2+ years.

Re: what is this! looks important.

It ripped mine off when I swapped my engine. I just soldered the wires back into place instead of buying a new one ~$135.

It's been over two years and no problems yet.

Re: lock/unlock with lights?

Usually, if you have a flashing LED somewhere, like on top of the steering column, you have an alarm installed.

Re: lock/unlock with lights?

I believe the factory optional alarm allowed for the horn to sound when locked/unlocked. I'm not sure about the lights flashing.

I have an aftermarket alarm in my car and it chirps and flashes...

Re: Is there a keyfob alternative ?

I believe the 97-98 Prelude were factory optional for remote unlocking.

That could mean your doesn't have the hardware for it. I agree with wing8806, just get an aftermarket one.

Re: PGM-FI RELAY or IGNITION REPLACEMENT?

For the stalling problem, check to see if the recall was done to your car. It sounds like that could be the problem.

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

When I was swapping in a new engine, I took the intake manifold and drowned that thing with carb cleaner.

There was a crack on the intake tubing, so the inside of the manifold was caked with dirt....

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Oh yeah, I always put a little bit of oil whenever I replace an o-ring. I don't know what made that one particularly difficult.

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

I paid $4 for it at my local dealer.

Honestly, I thought it was a pain to put on. Every time I put the cooler back, the ring would fall out of placement and I would have to repeat the process all...

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Those could probably work, but you can never be sure unless you try. Have you checked through all of your storage compartments? The key might be somewhere inside. I know mine was in the glove box...

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Looking around, it looks like the threading for the studs are 12mm X 1.5.

Hope that helps.

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Those lugs are aftermarket. I doubt your friend will have the same, let alone the key to one.

The one that was a Honda optional lock where these:...

Re: Doing somework to the 5th gen..keeping you guys updated

The CEL you have for evap; what code was it? P1456? P1457?

If it was P1456, it is most likely just your gas tank cap being loose.

Re: Help! Engine Restarts

My car had similar problems.

My recall was already done by the previous owner. So I couldn't take it to Honda without paying. So I just bought the ignition switch from O'Reilly for $35. Installed...
