JDM fogs

Hey guys! Jus thought I'd show you guys what I've been up to within the pass 2 weeks. Took me awhile since my mom had to be rushed to the hospital the day my vaca started due to a gall stone lodged in her gall bladder causing an infection. She's home now but waiting on the OK from the docs to proceed with part 2 of her surg. The first surg was to remove the gall stone and the upcoming surg is to remove the infected gall bladder.

Nonetheless I stayed home and figured I'd keep my mind busy and not think of the worst for her by doing this project.

About 2 weeks ago I ordered yellow Lamin-X because I felt it was way overdue to remove the old lamin-X and clean it up before slapping on the new ones.

If you dont already have Lamin-X to remove from your fogs then you have saved a lot of hassle and struggling bc to remove the old adhesive was really a b*tch to do bc you had to soak it with WD40 and use a plastic card (in my case I jacked abunch of giftcards from ON) to scrape off as much adhesive as you can. Excess will need to warmed up with a blow dryer or heat gun and use a rubber glove and manually rub the rest off!

I bought that lens restore kit from AUTOZONE. Besides that. All you really need is a spray bottle with water and a home drill!

This all that you need for the headlight/fog light restore!

As you can see here that both fogs had oxidized bubbles formed after years of beating from the weather conditions.

Passenger fog with 500 grit then 800 grit

Passenger fog with 3000 grit pad

Passenger fog with 3M polish included in the kit

1 down 1 more to go!

1 cleared and the other removed the old Lamin-X

Driver fog @ 500 grit

Driver fog @ 800 grit

Driver fog @ 3000 grit pad

Driver fog with 3M polish

Slapped the yellow Lamin-X and trimmed the sides off

Installed them back onto the Lude

Now I'm ready to shine the roads as I drive my way to PA to snowboard!

Re: JDM fogs

Truck is too much gas and renting a car for a 1 day trip isnt worth all that hassle. I would if it's a weekend trip. But usually if I dont get that day off from work then I throw in all my gear n board into my car and after work I shoot straight to PA from there to save time n board.

Beautiful. So you sanded the off the old Lamin-X?? Damn, makes me not look forward when I'm going to have to re-do mine. Hopefully my car will at the salvage yard before that happens.

I sanded only after I removed the old adhesive off. I googled n a forum stated to drown the old adhesive with Goop or WD40 n let it soak for awhile. I waited bout 10min before using the blank giftcards I took from ON to scrape the plastic lens safely. Got most of it removed. The rest I put on a powerless latex glove n rubbed the remaining adhesive off. Once like about 95% of the adhesive is gone. I then proceeded with sanding with the 500 grit. By that it sanded the few stubborn adhesive that didn't come off. By then it'll prep for the 800 grit with ease.

They dont kno bout them old school CRAFTSMAN drills! heavy as fukk but strong n durable!! LMFAO!

Oh no it's jus that when I bought them that they alrdy had Lamin-X on them and was worn as fukk as you can see in the first few pics! But I Youtubed and Googled to figure out how to remove the old Lamin-X and clear out to then slap back on the new ones so it'll shine more when I hit up Mountain Creek or Camelback!

I thought about having 8000K HID in my headlights and 8000K HID in my fogs to have that matching look like I see on Chargers n Mustangs but that the 8000K wouldnt help on white snow, but after some research that yellow is the best color to ground on snow which by all means I did so as well as the yellow does have that nice settle look on silver!

yupperz! and the yellow spectrum cuts rite through the fog too, instead of light bouncing back off the moisture and being obsolete with white light.

I cant wait to see what he says when i do jdm yellows and 30,000k purple HID's.... Purp'N'Yella !!

Re: JDM fogs

Some link to their headlight switch, some remove the dimmer switch and leave it behind to be replaced by the fog light button. But in my case I have the JDM switch housing that replaces the USDM one that has the tray underneath. So I have the usual 3 switches above...

1>Cruise control
2>Dimmer
3>roof rack

under that is my fog light switch. But as I'm typing this I jus realize that I removed my cruise control since I swapped to 5spd. So thanx to you I guess I have something to do this weekend!! Gonna pop out the cruise button and leave it behind and replace that spot with the fog one!
