Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Recent updates done with the help of my pro-friend:
-Replaced Oil Cooler O-ring (It was a bish)
-Rotated tires
-Filled up on Brake Fluid

I just want to confirm that it is ok to put DOT3 Brake Fluid in Clutch Reservoir, like it says on cap. If it's ok, then whats the difference between clutch fluid and brake fluid if they work the same way?

Yes, it's fine. Clutch fluid and brake fluid are the same thing. On my 323 they even share a reservoir. Probably wouldn't hurt you to do a clutch line bleed too rather than just top it up, mechanics never seem to during regular servicing so it might be getting a little scungy, it only takes a few minutes if you know how and uses hardly any fluid.

Edit: BTW, you shouldn't be "using" brake fluid. If the level in the reservoir drops then either your pads are wearing down or you have a leak. Check for both.

Edit edit: I realise I'm using the term "if you know how" a little fast and loose in this thread

This is not entirely true. Hydraulic fluids do tend to break down. Simple water intrusion into the fluid from condensation can make this happen. The fluid does not really get heated up enough to remove the water, and is only under constant compression.

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Gotta go with Tassie on this one in that when you have to add fluid it's quite possible something is amiss.

Now, adding a couple spoonfuls once or twice a year is no biggie. The term 'add' applies.
But when you get a lamp because your resevior was empty (or too low) it's best to start trying to track down the problem. The term 'fill' applies.
If you have to 'fill' your resevior more than once per fluid bleed cycle, that is not normal.

I forgot you have an SH Mat....guess that oil cooler 0-ring was a special treat to you with that ATTS all in the way....

Man that sucka was a PITA, it should have been a 30-minute job but my friend has smaller hands and he is a pro and it took us nearly 4 hours to get that sucker in place. We did not have enough daylight to complete EGR ports that day so we just rotated the tires.

Now after cleaning the EGR ports the next project is a complete brake job and I might upgrade to Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines, they are like $120.

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Alright so I bought some cheapo, clear side markers for my lude. they came with the amber bulb to (also came with amber lens, all that for $15, cheap material but it works)
and I finally got them today and replace OEM my driver sidemarker with the taiwanese domestic made sidemarker, no problemo.

Then I go to my passenger's side marker and unscrew the screw, and it did not pop easily like the driver's side did. I tried for like 30 minutes. I tried prying out, poking it out, etc. I gave up and tried again. same thing.

This should be the simplest quickest easiest mod. But the OEM passenger side marker just won't come out. Am I missing something here?

I think the light bulb connector is stuck or jammed inside. I don't want to destroy the plug by violently ripping it out. any advice?

One of the up sides of having prelude problems is that it gives you an excuse to get more tools, ahhh man, new tools make me feel some type of way, lol. It is a way of gaining power and a new ability to conquer obstacles in a more efficient way, exactly what tools are for lol. they are nothing special:

IDK why amazon so expensive but they were $40 at Lowes: Kobalt 10 PC Pliers and Wrench Set

Re: Alright guys, I got an Update...

Hey guys I'm at 157k right now, and I'm moving out where I will have no garage if prelude breaks down so I'm trying to do some preventative maintenance:

I'm thinking about changing timing, PS, and Alternator belt along with auto-tensioner with the notorious spring, while I go in to change Cam seals and VC gasket.

Any opinions? should I hold off longer?

I'll be getting pads/rotors along with 2-new tires, I might finally get coilovers as well.

I'd say you're past due on those items.

But that's all really. Anything else is simple maintenance.
