My Rusty Wallace NASCAR Racing Experience

I know that this isn't a race around a track in my Prelude, but I had to share this! For my birthday, My wonderful wife bought me a Driving Course and 15 laps in a Short Track Class NASCAR with Rusty Wallace Racing here in Houston. I included the link to my video on Youtube so you can see what my drive looked like!

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Re: My Rusty Wallace Racing Experince

It was! But being super securely strapped into your seat, the limited view of the helmet, the unfamiliarity of the control pedals, and barely being able to see over the hood cause you are pretty much sitting on the floor of the car, all give you this "disconnected from the car" feeling. I could have safely gone faster, I wasn't just putting along, but if I had driven the car maybe 25 laps, could have taken it to its full potential.

And with ALL THAT SAID... It was still bad ass to drive a NASCAR!

They were likely hoping you'd pay'em to drive those extra laps.

A long time ago I was all strapped into a mega car thinking "too tight-too tight" and after getting up to speed thinking "make it tighter-make it tighter."lol

In my case it was a roller coaster car back when loop-de-loop was a new thing.

Re: My Rusty Wallace Racing Experince

Sitting in a race car is far different front any street car. It takes some getting used to for sure. I've done the Dale Jarrett experience at Talladega a couple of times. It was always a blast at Dega. If you get the chance I would recommend doing the DJ adventure at a big track.

One thing I've learned about driving race cars is that you can forget having any good amount of side vision. A head and neck restraint keeps your head stuck in one place and you aren't moving anywhere once the belts are tight. I drive with two feet anyhow but for those that don't learning to drive with two feet in a race car is tough.
