Re: Slicks or what?

chipped p28 ecu
energy suspension motor mount inserts
full exhaust with test pipe
cold air intake
stock suspension
delinte thunder d7 tires and 17" rims
and then I just ordered a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail, and walbro 255 hp pump

Re: Slicks or what?

So all stock internals and you can't grip? Maybe a different tire/ suspension set up. You will get you answer shorty. 98Vtec where are you?

Surprised Blake didn't say anything about "my fifth gen is strong"

what exactly constitutes strong?

Re: Slicks or what?

Troo DAT. Just hard to picture organ bruising power in a "fuel upgrade" prelude, exhaust, tune and such.

Rocketta: you got to list all your engine setups so we can really help you. First things first, you need a racing helmet. No strip gonna even let you line up without one.

Re: Slicks or what?

Alright im going to get a helmet, I mean I know its not strong in you guys eyes but im only 17 and its the first performance car i've owned and its strong to me cause i've never had anything like it, and im going to be completely honest I dont know what i'm doing so im reaching out to you guys cause you have more experience than me, but anyway its a fifth gen with a stock h22a4 and the bolt ons i've described, what would recommend for suspension and wheel/tire?

Re: Slicks or what?

Yea, its my daily driver but i've done some research and it seems like some stiffer shocks and springs would help maybe some coilovers and increasing my front rake. But if I can find some 16's with some nice tires who wanna trade il probably do that but if not il just run it as is, I also figured out the way I launch it is all wrong so im going to work on that anyway my first test and tune will be August 3rd so I hope il do decent.

the only mod you need right now is the driver mod lol... and if you get serious with a performance build then the first thing you'll need a is beater like 98vtec said

Re: Slicks or what?

Good luck at the strip. Advice for your first run? Relax, practice your take offs at stop lights, not going to sixty, just get the feel of the light change then drop the clutch.

If you should have an automatic, do not use the sport shift mode, leave it in D. Also if you have an automatic, make that your last run. Five speeds wil be faster all day long.

Not true. Ive seen autos with stalls get consistently lower times than the same car with a manual. I'm not saying it happens all the time, but manuals are not ALWAYS faster.

Re: Slicks or what?

Well, Rocketta hasn't said which transmission he has. And if your referring to 4l65e, 4l80e, turbo 400r, and musclecar truck transmissions, yes. Prelude stock auto transmission? No. The idea is to try out one day at the drag strip FIRST, if Rocketta likes it, then bombard with all the fantastic setups that the drag world has to offer.

Then BECAUSE RACECAR!

True. I have no experience at the track in the lude (yet!), but with old Chevys and whatnot, you cannot out shift an auto tranny.

But like I said, I don't know much about the Honda transmissions. Can we adjust an auto tranny to shift at a much higher RPM?

Re: Slicks or what?

I'm having problems getting power down because of my suspension. My fronts are way too soft and causing wheel hop and spin. My rears are also a bit soft and I know that's not helping. I would look into suspension upgrades, that will help you get some of that power to the ground.

Which prelude? If it's the J-swap, I'd say traction bar,I would definitely say drag bags upfront to paste those wheels to the floor. Probably gonna be custom too. Try Bilstein shocks and a stronger springs upfront???

Re: Slicks or what?

Those tires suck dick. I would start with getting 16s and new tires. S-drives, g-force comp 2s, bfg kdw's...... Then do suspension

Re: Slicks or what?

any street tire is gonna spin. if you really wanna hook, get drag radials or slicks. but be careful cause its very easy to tear a diff out. and you need suspension. just get some functionform 2.5s. adjustable dampness so you can keep the ass end squatting to a minimum. and not all tracks require a helmet. idk where your racing so idk. but to be honest, since your car is stock, i wouldnt worry about how fast you can go and what nots. just go out and have fun
