Going to the track FINALLY

I'm taking my lude to the midnight drags tonight... I pulled the spare tire/jack/backseats out... I'll have some time slips/pics/videos for you guys tomorrow...

I'm hoping for like a 14-15ish (its 1000ft) i'm not sure thats realistic

anyways... any tips for the first time track racer?

Thanks,
Marshall

Re: Going to the track FINALLY

Are you familiar with launching? and by launching I don't mean dumping the clutch.

you got an F22 IIRC??? I have an f22 also. 4000-4300 seems about right RPM range for launching. Just feather it out. Don't dump your clutch. you'll just get wheel spin. Feather it kinda gently until it catches then get on it hard.

And about enough spare parts to build 3 other trucks

ehhhh not so much.

feathering the clutch is kind of where you keep your big toe on the clutch and find the balance point of where the clutch is engaged and disengaged. Just think about tonight. Take your car out and fight the point in which you can let go of the clutch and have minimal wheel spin. I'm not saying let off of the clutch slowly, but don't dump it. Somewhere around the mid point when your letting off of the clutch slowly you can feel your car get kind of jumpy. Thats the point that you need to launch from.

That was a waste of time... they were advertising Midnight drags from 10 to midnight, the track closes at 1... and they didn't start untill 12:43... then the first race a car blew oil/coolant all down the track and no one else could run

Re: Going to the track FINALLY

dont launch your car at 4000rpm's that too high for a front wheel drive car. My friend launches his all wheel like that because its all wheel and need more power, but if you did that it would be a waste of a launch. I went around 2000 to 2500 and got a perfect .500 one time i think i might still have the slip. anyway dont go on green, start letting the clutch out when the last yellow go off. Make sure u dont burn out before the race unless you have slicks theres no point. those tires are made from different rubber and if you try to do burn outs with your normall street tires for more traction it won't really make a difference. I learned how to launch from emery a evo owner that has the world record for fastest stock block evo that is running 10's. good luck and it doesnt hurt to practice launching, just find a empty parking lot where u wont be bothered.

Definitely not. Dude I would never tell anyone to launch under 3k ever. He has an F22. Its 135hp at the crank + whatever mods he has. Thats not a whole hell of a lot. I have NEVER launched at 2000 rpms. never. ever. And I never will. I do agree though, don't do a burnout either. It can actually hurt your traction. I forgot to mention that

Everyone has there own ways of launching just practice and come up with something that works for you. Just keep the car from spinning as much as you can.

Thanks.. I'm not too worried about tire spin... our track runs some fast cars.. like pro mods and out law stuff, so the line is pretty sticky lol
