Replacing my suspension

I was thinking about my suspension since a lot of my uncles (mustang owners and previous honda owners) were saying that I'm slowly harming my suspension by lowering my car with OEM suspension components like my control arms. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was true? If so, what are some good brands and what other suspension components should I replace?

Re: Replacing my suspension

Lowering springs on stock OEM shocks will wear the shocks out much faster since the shocks weren't designed for the higher spring rate/lower ride height. Which is why you should always upgrade the shocks when you install lowering springs.

Or if you have a proper set of coilovers (with shocks), you shouldn't hafta worry about "wearing out your control arms". The control arms are a solid piece of metal, they don't "wear out".

Listen to the grownups. They invented this stuff through trial and error.. with a huge emphasis on error.

Crash test dummies weren't always made out of plastic lol.

Re: Replacing my suspension

I'm lowered on FF Type 2's so does that mean I wouldn't need to replace any suspension components(besides bushing of course)?

Re: Replacing my suspension

Good, those are proper coilovers.

Unless your alignment is way out, nothing else should prematurely wear out from being lowered. Bushings eventually wear out on all cars after awhile cuz they're the softest component in the suspension system.
