Re: Looking at a Chassis Bar.

No -- it won't stiffen the chassis at all. All it does is act as the upper mount or guide for a seat harness. Not a waste of money if you're installing a harness, but useless for anything else. In fact, it's designed not to be a chassis stiffener, in compliance with some clubs' competition rules. Look carefully at the joints.

Re: Looking at a Chassis Bar.

It'd be better to get a rollcage, you get the best of both worlds. Also plan out the crossmember bar to be the right height so you can hang laundry, mount an HD camera or a kinky swingset for your girl .

Re: Looking at a Chassis Bar.

why do you need interior "chassis stiffening bars" with no other major modifications done to the car?

Yes, if you're willing to live with it. A cage in a daily driver is a pain -- you lose lots of room, and unless you've also installed race buckets sitting lower to the floor, you're forever banging your head on it getting in and out.

Not unless you install something that connects to at least four broadly-spaced points (and no pivots). Think of the middle of the car as a box -- running a single bar across the center doesn't do much to prevent it from twisting. You'd need to run stiffeners across the bottom (subframe connectors), top (normally part of a full rollcage), or sides (door bars -- also normally part of a cage) to help.
