5th Gen Wheel/offset/tire size question

Hello everyone,
Allow me to start off by saying I did indeed read the sticky uptop about the reccomended wheels and tire size but just would like to clear up the fine details to make sure I don't run into issues such as rubbing because I did not research enough :P

Car is a 98 base with BC racing coilovers, slightly lowered but not slammed down.

I am interested in upgrading from the stock wheels to either a 17x7 or 17x7.5 size. I just need to get some clarification on which offset to go with on either wheel as to prevent rubbing and which tire size would result in the best handling. BTW I am not a fan of the "hellaflush style"

I have wrote down 17x7
Best offset +45
wheel size 215/45/17

17x7.5
offset 48-52
215/45/17

Does this seem correct or am I off here somewhere?

Thank you very much

David

PS: My prelude is white, do you think a gold/white/bronze colored wheels look better on it? Thanks

If you're slightly lowered and looking to go with 17's personally I would go with a tire with a 40% aspect ratio....no chance of rubbing until you go past 225/40/17....

Re: 5th Gen Wheel/offset/tire size question

Im lowered about 1,5" and I got new winter rims & tires

17/7"
ET 40
tires 215/45/17

theyre pretty close not to scrape, I had to cut some corners inside the rear bumber that they dont scrape there, in front no problems... and now they are drivable, but if you have change 40 ration is way to go

personally I like bronze/gunmetal/graphite grey-coloured rims over black/gold

Thanks for the replies guys.
This is just the kind of info I am looking for :)

I think im correct to assume the ET is the offset? If so would a slightly higher offset (45ish?) stop the problem you have about the rear bumper scraping?

Sorry for one last question,
a 215/45 on a 17x7 vs a 215/45 on a 17x7.5, what would be the biggest difference? I know the rim would be slightly larger width but would that extra .5 really make that much of a difference and if so is that why the greater offset is needed with the 17.5 rim?

Thats right. Id suggest higher offset and lower tires then no problems (or just lower tires)

Re: 5th Gen Wheel/offset/tire size question

Edit: Found them on ebay for $621 shipped so I went ahead and just bought them on there, and ordered some 73mmx64.15mm hub rings for them. Now just got to see about tires...

Okay I am a big fan of volk te-37's but my wallet isnt lol. What do you guys think about these, I think I may get them, I wish they were a little lighter but I still like them.

17x 7.5 +45 offset, would these fit okay with 215/45/17's wrapped around them?
