This might help. 18's kill your traction from a launch due to massive rotating mass.

You will notice a decrease in acceleration w/ 18s (more or less depending on what size tires you get), but I am unsure of how much of a difference it will make.

I've seen 5th gens slammed on 18s, even had the 18s tucked a bit!

I'm not sure what you mean by fastest tires, speed rating?, traction?

If you're worried about gripping, acceleration quickly, and etc (not saying that you are), then 18s are just the wrong direction.

I went to New Orleans a few months back w/ a few pensacola luders and met up w/ two of the New Orleans locals. I have a few pics of a red 5th gen w/ 18s. But I need to make 4 more posts after this to post an image or link.

hey, ive heard that if the car has small rims, such as 15s, you might be able to get a better launch of the line, but ive heard that small rims reach their top speed much faster because of their turn radius, and that if you have bigger rims, they can hurt you on the launch but have a grater top speed because of the larger turn radius.
Example: imagine a little fan and a big one, both with the same power making them turn, which one would you think would be able to reach its top speed faster, and which one would be able to spin faster? the little one or the big one.
does this make sense or what ive heard isnt right? just wondering?
common sense tells me that the small one would have more acceleration and the large less but more top speed because its harder to make it spin and harder to spot once its already going.
is this right, or wrong? again, just wondering?

You are Correct,
Also, It is the rotational mass that affects the amount of torque needed to spin the wheels. The heaver the wheels the more amount torque is required to spin it.

Just try to keep the weight down.

Here is a similar thread. About how improper tire size can mess up your VSS.
Speed sensor with 18in. rims?

HaHa just realized it was your thread Guti.

I have 18x8.5 with 225/40 Kuhmo tires. It launches as well as it did with my stocks.

It's not the wheel size that causes the issues, it's the wheel weight. Most 18s weigh a significant amount more than the OEM 16s, which is why they tend to hurt accelleration and launching.

^x2. This man is wise =)

Most people don't realize that the stock wheels on our ludes are pretty hard to beat weight wise. I don't know about the bases, but the stock SH wheels are actually forged enkei's and they only weigh about 19 lbs each... now I know that's not very light... but it's pretty damn light for a stock wheel.

Not sure about the weight, but the base wheels are also Enkei forged jobbies. Enkei have made all Honda wheels for a long time now.

In one of the threads in this section I posted a set of pics, 17s, 18s and 19s. Would be good if SEARCH worked, I'd be able to find it.
