spacers?

I've been told I could use a more aggressive stance. YA! i know it shocking but i could use some help on how to figure out what size spacers I should pick up. Rear wheels only

Re: spacers?

step 1) measure how much farther out you want your (rear) wheels to stick out, in mm.
step 2) done.

i think its recommended that anything more than 10mm(??), its suggested that you get extended lugs.

Re: spacers?

I have 5mm spacers on short oem studs and wouldn't recommend any more than that without extended studs. You can check out the hub centric spacers with studs in already to avoid pressing out all your oem studs but you'll have to be at least 15mm or 20mm...

Re: spacers?

sounds like i should wait and just get extended lugs and do it correctly since id rather go more extreme then 5-10 mm

I had to pick up some wheel adapters to put on some volk racing wheels, I will take some before and after with the 1" wheel adapters. The front looks really good to me.

I needed to go from 5X114.3 to 5X100, though.

this.

5mm is the max I'd go without running extended studs.

also use hubcentric spacers, anything else is junk.

Do spacers hurt your wheel bearings/hubs?

Re: spacers?

I've heard that space are unsafe. They put extra strain on parts that are not made for it. I know at the shop I work at we won't touch a car with spacers. My bosses friend got muft up from a spacer fail.

Re: spacers?

If you ran extremely wide spacers and did hard driving, yes it could. Picture it like your arm held straight out in front of you. You put a weight where your arm bends, then you put the same weight in your hand. It's putting more pressure on your arm while the weight is in your hand, right?

this is why we say to use hubcentric spacers
I would never recommend anything over 10mm
anything over 5mm should use extended lug nuts.

don't always believe hearsay, go do some research

Re: spacers?

I had Project Kics hubcentric spacers on my S14 a few years back. So much better than slip-on spacers.

Re: spacers?

dumb question. But spacers will adjust with offset correct? with a 10mm spacer and 42 offset, it becomes 52?

Re: spacers?

Spacers are static. Yes, they do ALTER offset. However, you have it backwards. Putting a 10mm spacer on a wheel with a +42 offset will essentially bring it down to a +32 offset.

So a 32 offset will make the wheels stick out more like a wide body vs and higher offset which puts the wheels in toward the car?

Re: spacers?

putting a 10mm spacer probably wont be safe cause you wont beable to put the lug nut on or if it is its only a few threads.

they have 10mm adaptors which have studs on them. but now your wheels would have to have pockets in the back to clear your stock studs.

That's slip-on vs bolt-on spacers.

Re: spacers?

Should be stamped on the inside of the wheel, usually on the spokes.

Example: 16x7 +45

Depending on the size of the spacer it can put more stress on the wheel bearings and ball joints over time.
