Suspension bar question. ;-;

Hey; please excuse my vague explanation of all this, I'm new to suspension. I'll be redoing mine this fall so I'm trying to learn what I can.

I don't know exactly what this piece is called, but according to majestic honda its sold in 3 parts. Some people might have had the same problem I did. With my hytech replica header, it didn't fit because this beam was just in the way by an inch or so. After that was notched, when the exhaust was hot it would rub. I took it off and modified it more. Its a large beam right in front, and it has 2 thinner steel bars coming from it connected by a rubber housing on each side, they attach to the front control arms I think. All and all its a pretty heavy, and important piece. I tried to tried without it and it was absolutely horrible.

Anyway, I might've ****ed it up as when I did the modifying I had only put one bolt in on the driver side (usually 2 per side) figuring it would be fine (it wouldn't budge back in). Well after hearing this clicking noise everytime I would stop and accelerate, and after buying new axles, I figured it was the suspension bending. I finally got the bolt back in, and I still feel a rubbing when I turn.

All in all; I want something aftermarket and skinner if possible. I was wondering if adding an aftermarket sway bar would allow me to delete this piece.

Any input?

Re: Suspension bar question. ;-;

hope you weren't modifying the frame. but most aftermarket sway bars will be larger than the stock component

Re: Suspension bar question. ;-;

That sir, is your front cross member. The front motor mount bolts on top of it, as well as the front tow hooks, and your radius rods are the rods that go backwards and attach to the lower control arms.

Alot of people need to hack this up to fit A) hytech headers, or B) turbo downpipes/oil return lines.

The bad news, as you found out, is it is extremely important to handling/suspension/everything else to have this cross member attached. Hopefully you didn't do too much damage.

The GOOD news is, there are aftermarket companies that sell traction bars, which are MUCH skinnier/smaller to fit your header, and also allow you to mount the radius rods and motor mount.
The first company to come to mind is ESP:
Explicit Speed Performance

altho recently I've been hearing ALOTTTTT of bad stories/customer service/fabrication issues from them

Re: Suspension bar question. ;-;

issues with ESP? terrible customer service, they wouldn't answer any of my emails. took 15 weeks to do a front strut bar for me, they said 6-9 (even that is absurd) Kyle brewer ordered a part, took over twice as much time as they quoted, it's the wrong color, and the actual powder coat came out like sh*t.

Damnn that sucks. Theres a guy on here who ordered some mounts from them. Im guessing he either lost his lude or sold it but the mounts are still coming to him. I was gonna buy them from him but he hasn't gotten the mounts in yet and im in desperate need. Not sure what to do lol

Re: Suspension bar question. ;-;

Ah thanks a bunch, now I know what to actually search for haha.

The beam is really solid. It took a good hour of grinding and hammering the hell out of it to clear the header completely (when hot).
