Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

These are the exact two coils I've been contemplating about for the past few months. I've heard a lot of good things about ff, but not about d2's. All I know is that d2's dump pretty low. And the purple is always nice.

I talked to Big Mike at a car show once, and he was riding on ff type II. He said he drove it up north pretty low and he didn't have a problem. I forget his damper settings, but he was riding pretty stiff. I did hear on one forum that the 32 adjustable damper setting were overzealous, but that sounded more opinion than fact to me.

I was also wondering if the d2's damper adjustments were by clicks like the ff's.

And I just found this guy on craigslist in socal. FF type II for $800 out the door. He says the factory is right around the corner from where he is located, and he is an authorized dealer. Don't take my word on that though, not for sure. But here's the link:

Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

both are great companies and offer top notch products. however, a few things i noted...
these are 2 very different designs. meant for 2 totally different types of driving.

F&F are twin tube. twin tube are more for comfort. they produce more heat and are more prone to fail under high stress.. (fun times on the twisties)

F&F ones don't say anything about shock adjustability.

D2's are monotube. best for twisties... comfort lacks slightly. but since you have shock adjustability you can most likely find a comfortable setting.

both are height adjustable from the base of the shock. that retains full shock travel reducing the chance of bottoming out the shock and blowing it.

Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

meh...you're better off spending the money on koni yellows and eibach ground controls if you're already willing to drop that much.

konis have shock-dyno proven dampening vs. ksport. (uneven dampening between pass/driver sides)

this is 4 years ago, so ksport has since gone through a couple re-designs but:

google it, i

draw your own conclusions

Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

Ground Controls / Bilstein.

CG's are one hand adjustable, stock height to bottom out and Eibach springs. Koni's are good, Bilsteins are better. As a warning, you will need to chock your tires and raise the car HIGH to get the full adjust range (usually 90% lift of scissors jack). I had a 89 Prelude with yellows/reds and GC: worth every cent.

I hear good things about coilover systems, just don't think they make acceptable DD equipment.

Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

You gotta research dude. Don't get cheap. It's much better to wait and save up a little more than cheap out.

I've heard both good and bad from FF and D2's so I stray from them. Koni yellow's/GC have my vote but other than that I've heard of BC type BR coilovers, and I've been really looking into them and I think I'm going with those.

Also, you mentioned tracking. If youre going to be taking your car to the track and driving it hard you need something of quality and reliability.

Tein SS are great for track and the EDFC option is great but they don't slam enough for my liking. Two of my friends ride Tein SS on their Acura TL and IS350 and they've put it down to the last thread and it still doesn't seem that low.

Re: which coilover's are better? Help plz

mines about 2 inches from touching the ground and i have an inch left, they go low enough to tuck the tires. and they are stiff as my neck was after getting choked on a viagra. They handle like mad. After riding these i wouldn't run any others on a car thats gonna be beat on and put through its paces. feels tight and solid, even solid as fast as you can go in 5th gear. I jumped my car twice with them set on hard and they are still holding up like brand new.
