TEIN Basics/FF Type 1 from Ebay. Legit?

Hey Guys

Im looking into some affordable coilovers for my base '01. Ive done a bunch of research and it seems the TEIN Basics or the Function Form Type 1s are a good street ride (no racing for me) with some adjust-ability.

I've come across them on ebay here:

TEIN BASIC COILOVER 92 93 94 95 96 HONDA PRELUDE on eBay.ca (item 200493150680 end time 04-Apr-11 02:35:05 EDT)

Function Form Type 1 Coilover Damper Kit Prelude 97-01 on eBay.ca (item 150424344045 end time 10-Apr-11 16:46:39 EDT)

Both seem legit and from the responses most of their products seem legit also. I live in Canada and as such im kinda limited on getting these locally and even if I could, they are in the $1200 range.

Thoughts?

PS - If anyone has different ideas on coilovers, please let me know!

yeah those are legit teins but IMHO they aren't any better than ksports or FF coilovers.

They're legit. However you can do much better for that price.

Re: TEIN Basics from Ebay. Legit?

Well ill tell you what Im looking for and maybe you guys can help out. I know there are a billion threads on the net about coilovers and suspension setups on the lude but allow me to explain first

The car I bought was lowered on springs by the previous owner (about 2" or just a bit more). Im in Canada and the winters here get pretty bad to the point where the undercarriage gets hit with a lot of snow. The shocks are also on their way out (as theyre stock).

Im looking for a basic setup that I can still have the car lowered (1" to 1.5" at most) that I can run all year. I may not even adjust them.

Theres a guy locally selling a used set of Koni Yellows/Ground Controls for $400 (just waiting on him to reply as to just how old they are) which I know are a good set but frankly are they a bit overkill for me? Im just driving the lude as a DD with no Auto-X etc. **EDIT** The shocks and springs are a little too worn for me... 35000 miles on them.. so this may not be the best option

Here are some pics of the car lowered on stock size tire (205/50/16) - since im in the stance section maybe you guys can tell me whether or not its 2" (or more):

Rear Wheel 1

Rear Wheel 2
Front Wheel 1
Front Wheel 2
Side View

Thanks again.

Re: TEIN Basics from Ebay. Legit?

Example:
RoBear Racing. FUNCTION & FORM TYPE-1 COILOVERS: PRELUDE 92-96

Fully threaded shock body means your spring's preload stays the same, and you maintain full shock travel regardless of ride height.

$630 shipped. Weksos has them for like $600.

My problem is I live in Canada so free shipping is not something im eligible for. I emailed weksos to see cost to ship up here.

Are coilovers a bad idea for weather changes? Like our temperatures go from -22F to 90F.

Also, do you mind just checking out my pics and kinda estimate what drop im running currently?

Thanks for your input
