looking for a good suspension

I just got a 5th gen. Its dropped low with no camber kit. Id like to either return to oem springs/shocks or use a combo that rides like oem with a slight drop. This is my new dd and Im done with the dropped car phase. I dont want the stiff suspension that makes you feel every bump (thats what my talon is for!) I want a nice ride and maybe a slight drop. Any suggestions? Remember ride quality is what im going for...not handling.

Have no idea, there is no label..its dropped like 2" though, on stock shocks with no camber kit..the tires are destroyed. Im not into half ass-ricer mods..lol. Would rather have a stock setup or a VERY mild drop.

Re: looking for a good suspension

get some tokico shocks with good set of springs. theres a brand of springs that gives you 1.5 inch drop i forgot what it is. you should get a nice dd ride out of that

Re: looking for a good suspension

Yeah I have tockico 5 way adjustables on the talon and they are great. 1.5" drop is to much even. I just bought a set of oem springs for the prelude.

Re: looking for a good suspension

I am getting ready to install tein type s springs (1.2 drop) on Kyb agx struts. If 1.2 is too much the type h is only a .7 drop.

Re: looking for a good suspension

I would go with Kyb struts and some tein springs. I know the feeling I think preludes are just too heavy for coilovers, lowerings springs is the way togo...

camber doesnt kill tires, its the toe, and like dennis said go with the tein type h, they are a good ride and only a slight drop.

oops edit, just read your post where you said you got oem springs! sorry! :shoves foot in mouth:

I actually have the tien-s on the talon with my tockicos...moderate drop but pretty stiff. This is just gonna be all oem.

And fyi...you are quite incorrect about camber and tire wear. Negative camber destroys tires..hence the need for a CAMBER kit....camber is the angle of the wheel (side to side). Toe is the difference between the front of the tires which is more of an effect on steering. It can also cause some tire wear but no where near as much as negative camber. Like when ricers drop their car 2" on stock shocks with no camber kit looking like this. /--o--\

56 What does toe-in, caster and camber mean and how do they affect the car's handling?

Not trying to be an ass.

Re: looking for a good suspension

sorry brother, but you are wrong. Camber will effect wear, but only if its extreme. nothing wrong with a little negative camber. toe is what kills the tires. its like being pigeon toed. here is some reading for you on it, its for a civic, but its all the same...

Re: looking for a good suspension

yes, and it doesnt really have any solid info on it. Let alone pertain to hondas. yes camber will SLOWLY eat tires, but the most common cause of the wear is due to toe. Ask any alignment shop. Camber kits arent really needed, most can even damage your car. You want to have slight negative camber to help with cornering. You want you toe as close to zero if possible. I'm not trying to argue, just trying to enlighten you on the postive and negative effects toe and camber can have.

here is more good info on it.

Re: looking for a good suspension

both camber and toe wear out tires.. but toe kills them faster. lowering many cars increases the toe angle, which is to say it points the tires outward, so they kinda fight for direction where the car wants to go..when u drop a car wheels tend to tilt inward, its a natural effect of a double-wishbone suspension.. which is what honda, acura, etc. uses in their cars.

Re: looking for a good suspension

i wouldnt go kyb, thats more of an oem replacement strut imo. id get some tokico hps and a set of eibach or tein springs. that should be about an oem quality ride with a slight drop.
