5th gen - Koni + GC question

Hi there - I searched around and decided to go with this set-up

Now I have to decide what spring rates to choose for GC
Koni shocks can handle up to 450 lbs/in

Many would want the rear to be stiffer than the front, so there is less understeer, but that way the rear is gonna be easier to throw around - obviously ... too much of this on streets is no good

Since I have the ST rear sway bar already to tighten up the rear, I am little confused with what rates to choose

The car will be daily driven, and might see the track once per year - so street safety is very important here

For the start my idea is to go with this:

-450 front
-400 rear + st sway bar

Opinions/suggestions? is 450 in front really pushing it in the terms of durability? what about the rear? what about the front to rear ratio?

Thank you very much.

I would email the guys at GC and tell them what you're running. They know what you need to have.

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

What you posted will be fine for it being a daily with minimal track time. My 4th gen was a daily and my rates are 504 front and 672 in the rear and plan on getting a stiffer sway bar front and rear.

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

those are big numbers
for my purposes am i better off with 400F/450R or with 450F/400R?
i just have no idea how much of a role is the rear sway bar playing (it was a huge difference when i was all stock)

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

Daily driving I would go with 450F/400r.

If you call gc they will tell you the same thing.

Leavemdroolin, I have done more suspension research than you could imagine and I have spoken to gc myself and already know what they will tell him.

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

they might know the maximum amount Konis would handle
but to really know these things (how much in front, how much in the back), you need to track the car and see how it does
i basically wanted to skip that step and from experience drivers, get some inside hoops ;)

yeah i will email them, thanks guys

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

Well my set up is a little much but is good for hard core driving.
450f/400r is a good set up for a dd that will be tracked.

I'm not questioning your remarks, I'm telling him to contact the people that make and do this for a living. Your experience with these is probably top notch, hell I don't know, but I do know that they know and whatever set-up he is running they will have a suggestion for him. Don't take it so personal. It wasn't a shot at you by any means.

Re: 5th gen - Koni + GC question

Trust me I understand. That is usually what I tell people to do but I just tell them what to do now since I talked to them myself.
