Tein Basic Coilovers?

So ive been researching tein coilovers and it seems alot of people would rather super streets over the basic coilover kit. So my question is, is it really worth it to spring for the upgrade? whats the big difference? My ludes just a daily driver that i like to have fun in and i want to do it right but not overkill.

Re: Tein Basic Coilovers?

IIRC the basics are only height adjustable, and have no ability for dampening adjustability. Some say they are overly stiff and that if you drive over anything thicker than a cigarette paper you'll feel it at your lower back.

Others I've spoken to say they're great and going anything else is overkill.

You've said your car is dd, I presume that to mean you're not planning on tracking it. In which case any coilover setup is probably overkill. A set of good shocks and Eibach (or similar) lowering springs would do the job. However I understand that there is far more what I call pub factor with coilovers. (You can brag that you have a track spec coilover setup, rather than just springs and shocks to your mates at the pub).

Re: Tein Basic Coilovers?

yeah i plan on taking it to the track and stuff. my definition of daily driving is really driving it and having fun ripping vtec and such.

Also i have no idea what pillow ball mounts are if someone could explain those for me?

IMO the dampening of the SS is totally worth it. when I'm just driving back and forth from work, I have mine set pretty soft. when I wanna go out ona drive, they're def stiffer. just a little turn of an Allen key

Re: Tein Basic Coilovers?

I've only heard one person say they were good. I've heard numerous say they weren't.
