Banging noise

Hey guys.. i put on skunk2 lowering springs about a week ago and no new noises except for the back right wheel.. everytime i hit a bump i hear a pretty loud banging noise.. at first i thought it was my jack on the metal by my spare tire because it was in there lose.. took it out.. no good. Yes i took the wheel off checked all the bolts.. everybolt on the shocktower is tight.. everything is solid in there. I dont think its hitting the wheel well or anything because it makes the sound even over little tiny bumps. Im just baffled as to what it is.. blown shock? i have no clue.. someone chime in please!

Re: Banging noise

look underneath your car on the backside towards the driver side, you should see a bracket mounted to frame and your sway bar should be mounted to that.

Re: Banging noise

its either loose, perhaps cracked. something else to check is your sway bar end links. check for play by shaking them. if you still can't find it, you can have the whole back end jacked up and moving the wheel up and down to try to simulate the sound. FEEL around for the sound helps too. so it helps to have a 2nd person to help you out.

Re: Banging noise

And by struts he mean shocks, as in the non-spring part. Stock or aftermarket?

By the way, running lowering springs on stock shocks will cause the shocks to explode. Well, blow out anyway, which is much less violent than it sounds.

By the way, the strut towers are still connected to the wheel well right? Also, did you make sure the jounce bumpers were put it? They would be rubber bumpers installed between the spring ends and the brackets that hold the springs in place. Not sure if lude's even have em, but if you put them on every shock/coil but one...

Re: Banging noise

just make sure the spring is actually sitting in correctly. when you lower the jack go super slowly...im pretty sure thats whats happening. the spring is not in its area.

Re: Banging noise

yeah the spare tire is solid.. yes the rubber piece in around the top of the coil before i put it in the shock tower metal thing.. i think im gonna pull it all apart this weekend take the spring off the strut then put it back on then put the strut back in and make sure every single bolt on the back right wheel is tight.. keep the suggestions coming guys.. tomorrow when it stops raining im going to check all the little things.. and if that doesnt work im pulling it all apart saturday!

p.s. im running stock struts.. im going to upgrade shocks soon.. thinking about kyb's or something.
