yeah i agree with you 100% on both. i just got these as temporaries. they were only $40. and im in the market for stuts as soon as i get some parts sold.

but suprisingly with my 205/55/15 its a nice ride to be honest. its not bouncy and not stiff either. but the only bad thing is that my 55 series tires rub on hard left and hard right turns.
its a whole new story when the 17's are mounted on here though.

Re: how to go lower?

just came up with an idea for us luders. the problem is that the front struts bottom out too soon causing lack of suspension travel. I was just looking at some extra strut mounts that I have around. I am going to modify them to allow the strut mount to be extended up a couple of inches higher. I have heard of guys welding them up higher but I am gonna do this a bit different. the existing mounts will stay where they are on the bottom side of the strut tower. the part where the bushings go will be removed. now,the new set of mounts will be modified so that the lip that keeps the coil spring in place will be ground flush. the 3 bolts will also be removed. making this similar to a strut bar mounting plate. by doing this, the strut will be extended probably a couple of inches. I will be doing this probably tomorrow as I am replacing my fronts. I will try to get pics of each step and post up for everyone. heres a picture of the stock mount maybe yall can imagine what i am talking about it seems like it will be pretty easy, just need 2 extra mount plates.also, gonna use 94 accord front struts cause they are a little shorter already.should get at least one inch of free travel out of this relatively cheap mod. im sure alot of yall have extra strut mounts just laying around.

Re: how to go lower?

putting more of the shock in to the bottom clamp mount would also help from bottoming out the shock and killing its life. The g1 CRX/Civic do this all the time when we re-index the torsion bars.
The Kakabox Build - Red Pepper Racing

You should be able to do this on the prelude. I would test it out on a old set of shocks before I do it on a new set. BTW do not weld the bracket back on.

Re: how to go lower?

didnt think of that. I think mine already go in as far as they can though. the brackets for the brake lines help to stop it from going any further. plus wouldnt it hit the axle if it went too far?I think I will stick to my original plan.

Re: how to go lower?

if the 4thg front struts are the same as a 5thg, then you can get some 92-95 civic front struts and this will lower it almost half an inch.

its a shorter shock. definitely not the best or the safest way to lower your car. in fact probably only slightly smarter than cutting or taking a blow torch to your springs. maybe its just me but i wouldn't use a shock designed for a much lighter/smaller car or a a shock designed for a much softer spring.. thats just me though like i said. but i don't know **** about suspension.

honestly your car looks good dude! im pretty low, and i hit EVERYTHING!! its annoying. (well my ws2 hits everything)

im on D2 racing coilovers and they have some more lower-ing?(lol) left in them..

id love to go lower, but i just cant. roads are too bad here. welcome to new york.

in fact now that i look at ypur pic, you look as low as me.. and like i said i have at least another inch lower to go on my D2s... it all depends on your tires dude! putting larger "over sized" rims and tires on will make it higher.. maybe thats my problem! =]

Im definately about to try that, would that have an effect on camber?

Judging from your other thread, you want to get lower? The standard koni yellows with some coil overs would get you quite a bit lower.

Re: how to go lower?

Honestly I think you're low enough. 3 inches is a pretty big drop, hell whenever I get my lowering coilovers I'm prolly only gonna drop it 1.4-1.9".

Plus if you're already rubbing, you'll only rub more the lower you go, but to each his own I guess.

As to how to get lower than coilovers will allow, I suppose you should prolly look into either custom suspension or air ride.

kyb agx or the tokico iluminas will be my next strut. oh and i removed one of the two perches in front and the back still has another 2 inches of thread to go down but its not gonna be ghetto raked.
