5 lug conversion

Okay I have been doing some research and found out the 5 lug conversion isn't all that bad. Is the main reason for doing it for more choice of wheels? I would think it would also be nice to have the vtec brakes. Are there any other large advantages? Disadvantages?

Thanks from Matt..your famous newb hahah

Re: 5 lug conversion

you don't need 5 lug to do the vtec brake swap.

its mainly for wheel selection

tell me where do you get this information?

i had the 5 lug conversion done to my 92 lude and had about 15 sets of wheels, none of them rubbed, i had A LARGE variety of sizes in between 16's and 17's, 6.5", 7" 8" and 8.5" wide and none of them ever rubbed. Its also a good idea to roll your fenders whether you do the 5 lug conversion or not.

you guys can ask NECK, he knows since hes seen my car in person

I knew that 4th gens do..but I don't haha. I have an Si which obviously doesn't have vtec brakes, and in the DIY I was reading over on PreludeOnline, it says you have to get 4th gen vtec brakes. So that in itself will be an included upgrade..I'm all for that! And as far as 2 types of rims..those just happen to be what I am interested in, the variety of 5 lug wheels is huge! Especially when it comes to the higher quality wheels. I'm not a big rota fan so it seems that I'm SOL with my current bolt pattern haha.

This is what I don't understand! Everytime I go to look for rims I find some I like..then I'm quickly dissapointed when I see no 4x114.3 lug patterns....dern it! haha

This is good news for sure. So I guess the conversion was well worth it?

definitely was but as for pricing even though i got everything cheap i ended up spending a pretty penny getting everything working properly. let me make a list.

5 gen suspension $300
(includes spindles, arms, shocks, brakes, etc)
lower ball joint $100
wheel bearings $200
blox extended studs $80
having the machine shop putting everything in $100
5 lug blades $200
endless race brake pads FRONT $200
honda oem brake pads REAR $80
muteki open ended lugnuts $40
OEM front and rear brake rotors $300

i think thats about it, you could do it for a lot cheaper if you dont waste money getting the expensive brake pads, the extended studs and the lugnuts.
i just changed the ball joints and bearings because i wanted to start fresh.

hope that helps you, let me know if you have any questions.
