Spring/Strut Dilemma

Ever since I got my Prelow (haha) I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do about the stance.
When I got the car it had red H&R springs which I have now learned are the race springs..1.9" in the front and 1.6" in the back IIRC. I like the ride but I do have a problem w/ the roads around here. I have thought about a few different setups and I wanted to see what ya'll recommended.

I have thought about going w/ Skunk2 coilovers and KYB AGX's, or keeping my springs and going w/ the KYB's, or going to a sport spring and getting different struts.

Will the KYB AGX's handle my race springs' spring rate? I have found multiple answers to that.

Now after all the reading I have done I don't see how my stock struts haven't blown out already after what everyone has said. To be honest it rides pretty good..I would just prefer a bit stiffer ride to try to compensate for how low it is. I have already replaced the oil pan and headers..I don't want to have to do it again!

Full blown coilovers are out of the question for my wallet but a recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Spring/Strut Dilemma

Get the AGX's, they're good quality, easy on the wallet, and adjustable. To save some money, use the H&R's. The skunk2's have like a 2.5in drop or something crazy, and IMO that's just too much.

Re: Spring/Strut Dilemma

Do you think the AGX's will be alright w/ the race springs? That would suck for them things to blow out haha. I am new to the lowered world..is freaking out when I see a hole in the road just something I have to get used to? lol

As far as the Skunk 2s I was thinking about the coilovers so I could adjust them..but everyone is saying the ride of coil overs sucks

Re: Spring/Strut Dilemma

Well sh*t if you see a hole in the road definitely avoid it, especially when you're lowered or have nice wheels. Don't be deceived by the word "race springs," any after market spring can be refereed to as a race spring. Those AGX's can handle just about anything. And yeah if you've never rode in a lowered car before, coil overs will feel really harsh, even if they're high quality like Tein. I guess that's just how they ride.

A coilover is a strut and spring combo, to create a shock. When you buy them they're already together. Coilovers and springs are not synonymous, but coilovers do have springs on them. Sorry if any of this is unclear. In short, rock the H+R's and AGX's.

Re: Spring/Strut Dilemma

hahaha okay I guess that did sound pretty stupid..I know to dodge them but I guess more so I feel like every dip I'm gonna slam my car. But thank ya man that's what I was hoping to hear..I think the AGX's and my springs should hopefully do the job.
Lol that is a bit unclear but after reading it 5 times I think I'm understanding...either way I'm gonna work w/ what I have got!
