Sway Bar

I researched alot on this site and pretty much everyone is saying that getting a rear sway bar is one of the best mods you can do suspension wise.
Im wondering if anyone has heard of the addco sway bar. its listed for 168 bucks on ebay. I looked at the progress sway bar and its too expensiv and the tanabe is around $200 shipped and that isnt bad either.
Also, I just got my lude two months backs and the sway bar was cracked so this is something I have to do.
So overall im asking if anyone has the tanabe or addco rear sway bar and how do they like it.
Did you have to modify anything to put it on? Was it just a direct fit with no problems such as your bracket ripping off or something? Thanks

Re: Sway Bar

anything off ebay you can never be 100% certain on. i wouldn't waste the money. IMO with suspension, GO BIG OR GO HOME. i've only had experience with ONE sway bar and thats progress. its the biggest sway bar for the prelude.

pros: quality made, thickest and strongest bar for the prelude (just over 1" dia), 3 levels of adjustability, and its very easy (takes 20 minutes)

cons: the endlinks progress sells you blow. you can't use the stock ones they will bend. you have to go custom and unfortunately they are pretty expensive. i can't remember off the top of my head but i want to say i paid like 150 for a pair of custom endlinks.

i opted to use the stock brackets because theoretically there is minimal stress on those brackets as it only rotates inside the bushings. but my problem is i installed it wrong and adjusted it wrong. so i had more force on one side then the other and ended up breaking one of my stock brackets. it wasn't the stock brackets weakness it was my own stupidity. and it only took about 6 months for it to break. i've had a new bracket on there for over a year now, installed and adjusted properly, no problems. so the stock brackets are more then strong enough. its the endlinks that are the weak link.

check out neuspeed. i thought they made rear sway bars for ludes too. iirc there are a few neuspeed bar owners on here.

Re: Sway Bar

For front strut I have DC and I have a rear lower bar. Idk what the back is tho :( I wouldn't pay that much for ebay. Esp when you can find them on there for like 30 bucks.

Re: Sway Bar

A sway bar is different from a strut bar though

Re: Sway Bar

That's what I meant. I have a strut in the front and sway bar in the rear. not strut in the rear. I'll take a look at it and see if there's still a brand name etched on there for ya.

damn dont spend the money before more comes in. its like throwing money down the drain. That could of been more parts for the lude.

Also am i taking a risk that my brackets in the rear will rip off putting an aftermarket sway bar?

Re: Sway Bar

you will eventually need to get aftermarket endlinks. look into the progress sway like drew had stated previously. its what i have and i love it. the sway bar comes with new brackets and hardware so you will be good there. i just bought some custom endlinks for 150, hopefully they will be here soon.

Re: Sway Bar

no you should be alright with your stock brackets. if you read my post it, it stated that the reason mine ripped out from under my car was because i installed and adjusted it wrong. at the time i did mine there was a few ways to install your sway bar floating around the interwebs. yet i could never get a straight answer as to what was the correct way. so i just picked one. and it didn't work.

Re: Sway Bar

I have suspension techniques (ST) front and rear sway bars. even though they are a funky color green, I love 'em.
jesse (pooponurhead) has them as well.

Re: Sway Bar

Okay I looked underneath at the side closest to the trunk. I didn't see or feel anything. The only thing I saw was that the middle of it has a green stripe going around. It's about a half inch thick (the stripe)
