Ground Control height adjust?

Hey guys. Im replacing my Eibach Pros with GC coilover sleeves. I loosened the sleeves all the way to keep from having to use the spring compressor, but when I tighten down the top mount nut, and tighten everything back up, I cant turn the adjuster unless I jam a screwdriver into the slots and hammer the crap out of it...There HAS to be an easier way to do this...Can someone help? Thanks.

Re: Ground Control height adjust?

iirc GC sleeves had a set screw. make sure its not tight. also, you got the provided adjuster wrench right?

IMO GC is complete crap. the set screw idea is stupid. they're the only coilovers that use set screws. all others use jam nuts.

Re: Ground Control height adjust?

yeah, you kinda need the adjuster wrench. did you get the sleeves band new? or did you buy them used. call GC, i'm sure you can order just the adjuster wrench. it should be only a few bucks.

Re: Ground Control height adjust?

ya just make sure the lock bolt is loose. and that they are somewhat clean. just blow them off with some compressed air. and you should be good to adjust the height by hand. that how i did mine atleast. I love mine though. even at speeds around 140 t0 150 they are still fairly smooth ride.

Re: Ground Control height adjust?

I know what you mean hard to turn, even with the set screw loosened, they can be a pain to turn sometimes. An adjuster wrench would def help. I bought mine directly from GC and they didnt come with a wrench.

yeah they're called spanner wrenches. they're supposed to come with every any coilover set you buy. it is possible to adjust coilovers with out them. but can be very difficult. especially an old set. lots of dirt and sand can get in the threads making it very difficult and thats where the wrenches come in handy.
