Icon5 NEED opinions please! shocks&springs for a DROP...

so i wanna drop my prelude a good 2".... i have looked and looked at springs and shocks and i have a few in mind but idk what to pick... my budget for this project is $650 bucks, i know its not alot but ive found some that will work within that budget. right now im lookin at KYB AGX shocks ($400 shipped) with H&R springs (red) ($130shipped) that will give me 2'' lower in the front and 1.8'' in the rear. i was also lookin at neuspeed springs with a 2.25'' front and 2'' rear drop.

i just want some opinions from people that have their car dropped at least 1.8'' and lower. what you guys experienced and what kind of shocks&springs you guys are runnin.

if you guys can also give me some advice on how to keep a somewhat comfortable ride while being dropped so low (i know its hard to do lol) that would be good.

ANY input would be freakin awesome!

Re: NEED opinions please! shocks&springs for a DROP...

Firstly - moved to correct section.

Secondly - there is ample info around here. Two threads doen from yours there is a thread where all kinds of shocks have been rated. If you require a bit more info, a search may help - everybody lists what they have under their Members Rides page, and in there they always get asked what they think of their setup. So the information is there, just you need to look for it.

If what you decide is that you want is a bit out of your budget, then save up for longer.

(Did I sound like an arse there? Sorry, I've had a long day)

The only advice I can give you here is try to stick with a 16" or smaller rim. Being dropped obviously is going to give you a rougher ride, but when you add bigger rims (17" + 18" in the Prelude's case), it makes it even worse. There is a world of difference between my 17" Enkei's and my 15" OEM Sawblades

Re: NEED opinions please! shocks&springs for a DROP...

17's arent that bad on a lowerd car, i am rockin the skunk2's which are a 2.25 drop on stock struts right now. i plan on getting the koni yellows with my tax return. this setup is a bit more costly at around 750 depending on where you get the stuff. i love my skunk2 springs perfect drop in my opinion. i still need a camber kit though as you will need to look into that on a 2 inch drop. currently, for winter, i am rockin the stock 16" blades, they ride better for obvious reasons like a thicker tire.

because thats what most people refer to them as, like if i said koni sports prolly half the people that read it would be like: "does he mean the yellow ones?" also tokicos are know for their blue sports so everyone just calls them tokico blues.

Suspension Techniques, Tanabe, or Eibach with the AGX's = Great ride. Coupled with some 16x7's with a 215/45/16. You won't want anything else. That's just my opinion.

Re: NEED opinions please! shocks&springs for a DROP...

I'm gonna run Eibachs on Koni Yellows with some 16x7's this summer, hopefully it's as good as you say it will be. Of course anything's gotta be better than Eibachs on blown struts on 17x7's lol.
