Need advice on supsension upgrade.

My 4th gen is approaching 147k. I want to do a suspension upgrade. I don't think the previous owner did anything other than oil changes and tuneups. I'm purchasing a rear sway bar and I'm now wanting to replace the whole suspension. I want to drop the car not too much. Somewhere between 1-1.5". I use the car for normal stuff and have fun with it, nothing serious and no tracks. Whats the cheapest way for me to go with good products? Do I need to get a coil over kit? Do I need a coil over kit and new shocks? I'm brand new to car upgrades so if you guys could help that woudl be cool. I'm not trying to spend a whole lot, but I don't want real cheap ass sh!t either. Thanks.

Re: Need advice on supsension upgrade.

KYB AGX struts for under $400. They're adjustable so you can choose the stiffness that fits your needs, and do it with a screw driver from the top of the strut tower, so no removing tires or anything.
From your description, I'd recommend Tein S-Tech springs. It's about a 1.5" drop, and still maintains OEM ride comfort. But, there's also a few more choices Tein has as well as &R, Neuspeed, Tokico, Eibach, and several others.

Coilovers would be overkill for what you're saying you want out of it.

Re: Need advice on supsension upgrade.

Okay so I need struts and springs. If I drop it about 1.5 will my wheels be slanted inwards? I see a lot of drop vehicles with their wheels leaning cause it's so low. I dont' want my joint looking like that. Also whats the use of coil overs? is that just if you want to go really really low?

coilovers are for adjustabitity like in case in the future you want to put bigger rims, body kit, lip kit, or you just annoyed with what the height is, you get coilovers.

Pretty much if you drop past 1.5", you might need a camber kit but anything from there and less is fine. Alignment is key though, John is right.

Beautiful. You guys know your stuff. I plan on getting 17's and throw a lip kit on it; so according to what your guys are saying I should be fine. Cool.

Re: Need advice on supsension upgrade.

my drop is right around 1.5-1.7 and i have no uneven wear at all. just make sure you take it to a good shop that has good equipment to do the job

Re: Need advice on supsension upgrade.

I highly recommend the KYB AGXs. Ive had them for almost a year with no complaints. I have to keep them set pretty stiff because if I don't, my shiney WS2 will drag the ground.
