Review: ShaySpec Products

I own a 1992 prelude with a JDM h22a engine and transmission. I recently did a lot of transmission and shifter work, and I needed to find something better than the poor OEM honda rubber shifter bushings and mounts.

I came across Home | Shayspec.

I bought the ShaySpec Solid Forward Shifter Gate Bushing, and the ShaySpec Solid Shifter Assembly Mounts.

Prior to having these products installed, the shifting felt loose and sloppy. Well that changed. Now it is much smoother to shift into gear and I don't get the play that I would with the OEM rubber bushings. Now, this isn't a "cure all" modification to fix any shifting issues you have. I believe that it stabilizes the shifting so you can shift better and have no room for play.

Pictures of them installed on my car.

(ignore the floor mat lol. integra mats in my prelude)

For the price that these are, it is such a must have! I would never run a car again without having ShaySpec products.

Thanks for reading my small review. I hope to share this amazing part with my fellow preluders.

g'day

If only they'd make a short shifter to go along with these bushings. JTC needs some competition.

Re: Review: ShaySpec Products

I have Shay's forward shifter gate bushings installed as well. For the price of a decent pizza, I got one of the most surprisingly satisfying upgrades in a long while. Great communication and fast shipping.

They matched up with my JTC (aka Forbidden) shifter perfectly. It really does clear up the slop on that connection, leaving you with just the little bit of free travel that is in the main joint at the base of the shifter. I already had JTC's assembly mounts so I can't say how they differ from Shay's.

He's coming out with a lot of products for Preludes. It's great to have some niche vendors for our cars. I mean, the Prelude is not a new vehicle, any new parts are very welcome.
