5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

After researching some I decided to buy these fog lights, a lot cheaper then the JDM ones and pretty much the same thing. Got them for 60 bucks shipped off ebay and made sure they were the v2 kind. Also comes with wiring interior button and button holder or what ever they call it. Also note I used a DIY guide on this website to use the factory wiring.
Shipping was fast, came in a small box everything was wrapped in bubble wrap and stuffed with foam peanuts.
Quality: The fog lights them self are perfect, lenses are perfect housing is perfect no cons about them. I give them a 10/10 The wiring was a little long and had to be zip tied, two weeks after using one of the negative female connectors burned out and had to be snipped off and replaced. Other then that they are fine I give them a 6/7. Interior button/holder, I give the holder a 10/10 high quality and fits perfect the button however pretty much sucks clicking it is impossible without it not turning on or off I give it a 5/10 You can always get the JDM foglight button but I'm keeping mines cause I always keep them on and the idiot alarm installers put the alarm blinker into it.
Fitment: Fits perfect no gap or any modfication needed 10/10
Installation: Super easy when using the factory wiring took about a hour, also you must use the relay it comes with to install to the foglight wiring inside. Will not work if not used.
NOTE: They come with pre-installed bulbs but they burn out in about a week, highly suggest you order a good pair of H3C bulbs to put in while they are being installed to avoid future hassle. I bought some 5k Xenon replacement bulbs for ten bucks on eBay
Overall this product is great, after the replacing female connector and bulbs they are going on 4 months without any problems. No melting at all, I even saw someone install 8k HID'S into them without any problems.
REP is welcomed :)

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Was it a beeetch to install the wiring harness and all that? I've been wanting fogs for the longest time just been lazy to see if the diy is easy. Looks good though

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

i used the v2 harness into factory harness DIY and with the help of my friend to hook up the wire by the clutch it was really easy

it would have been harder if the prelude didnt already come with its own built in harness

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Here's,the link for the fogs. You can tell they are v2 and not v1, by the light diffuser inside the housing and it comes with the button holder.

I used THE DIY in the DIY section about using your presided fiactory wiring it was super easy you can do it under a hour.

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Well Im hoping everyone who owns a V2 fog lights from ebay reads this in time before this happens to them. I read from a few places that the fuse it comes with is a POS and turns out it is, Please change it out as soon as possible it's a #30 fuse colored green buy one at walmart auto zone or wherever and pop it out and replace it. I never did this and my fuse burnt itself off of the wire seen in the picture. Something like this can cause a huge fire in your Prelude which results in a total loss unless your able to get it out, I was super lucky that the fuse hung lower not touching any wires that when it got super hot and burnt itself off it didn't burn anything else or cause a fire.

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Well I bought some fog lights from ebay as well, though I had some OEM for lights with my car when I bought it. All they did was use the stock wiring and simply change the lens of my stock fog lights to the yellow lens. Thank for the tip, I will make sure to check it out often just in case.

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

I'd like to find some v2 units, but the seller listed is gone. Are there any others selling the v2 units? Are they the ones with glass lenses? I'm interested in metal housing/glass lens as recommended in the forum as I want to put at least a 5K bulb in them, if not an 8K.

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Do all 5th gens come prewired for fog lights? Is there anyway to check if mine is prewired? I ask because I have a 98 Base w/out fog lights and I'm panning on buying a set of V2's as my first mod.

Re: 5th GEN: eBay V2 Foglights

Yes it has the prewire for the fog lights. Because I have a 98 base model and it's there. I just ain't arsed to do it right now and am using the one that came with the fog lights. :P Look under the dash (you will have to look all the way in the back left corner and you will see a orange wire that is covered with blue tape. That's the prewire. You will need to buy some male and female 14-16 gauge bullet connectors to use it (stupid imho).
