crower stage 1 h22 cams

so i recently bought the crower stage 1 cams for my h22. Currently i only have aem sri, megan headers, tanabe hyper medalion exhaust, and a p28 chipped ecu with a complete a/c delete. Please dont hang me but i have never dynoed the car before so i dont have any before numbers. I am going to phantasm motor sports in Raleigh NC tommorrow in order to get it dynoed and tuned.

On a just feel note though. the cams are awesome! the midrange power difference is incredible. The 2800(ish) until vtech pulls like vtech used to and vtech hits harder than ever. however currently there is a bit of lag at times wish the tune should help with. I will keep everyone updated with the numbers but they are well worth it.

around 400$ shipped and doesnt require anything extra because it works with the stock retainers and springs. Absolutely worth it IMO. This is the first internal/serious power mod i have made. the next options are aemv2 intake or a euro r intake manifold with the hondata gasket.( and trust me i know, for real power i need better headers, ive seen plenty of the arguments over it lol)

Nice man. Glad to see that you like your new upgrade as well as sharing your experience with them. I will definitely look into these now, especially after you share your dyno numbers. Where did you buy them at? Did you install them yourself?

Re: crower stage 1 h22 cams

long story short i didnt get a dyno run because i found out i had a blown headgasket and had to get that fixed instead. i will however soon be dynoing it. The hesitation i was feeling was from the headgasket though so no need for a new tune for it to run properly right away which makes them even nicer if u cant get them tuned right away.

the pull is amazing now that there is no hesiatation. i feel like i always have peak power with just a slight push on the gas pedal.

i bought them straight from crower and had my buddy who is amazing at working on cars install them

No, for real power you need higher compression pistons. Those will REALLY set off the cams and you will love it.

Re: crower stage 1 h22 cams

while your doing your head gasket, here is what I would also do if I were you.

1) take the head off and mill it by .040 to bump the compression up.
Your cams will thank you.

2) get apr head studs

3) have someone degree in those cams for you. If you were to leave it at 0/0 gear setting you do make some more power but not as much compared to having them degreeded in. Also this will allow you to get the best WHP to $ return ratio.

Cheers

intake which sucks warm air into your engine is not smart move IMO

...and you can get as good IM as euro r for much cheaper. blacktrax ported IM or skunk2. I dont understand why people want to pay that much more when that euro r isnt even that much better
