Eagle Eye Projector Headlight CCFL Halo 97-01 ebay

So I get a lot of PMs about these headlights and I guess you could chalk it up to laziness as to why I never wrote a review for them.

I must have bought these more than two years ago. I saw them on ebay and I really just don't like the stock headlights in the 5th gen. I have to say though that there are many variations of halo housings for the 5th gen and I hated all of them except these.

Here's a picture of the cut off I'm stealing from someone else with Eagle Eye projectors.

As you can see they're not quite straight across horizontal. There's this weird notch where they are higher on one side than the other. This picture shows it even more. Mine are not quite as noticeable.

For both the left and right lights the left side is lower, there's a notch in the middle and then the right side is higher. It's kind of annoying. Here they are installed though.

You'll notice I essentially avoided taking picture with the halogen bulbs actually on, that's because the yellow of the halogen looks like ass in contrast with the white but here they are with the lights on.

Overall I'm happy with this ebay purchase. You can get these on ebay for like $150 and I'm seeing for $300 you can get them with 2 sets of HIDs (high/low beams). I was and still am planning on getting HIDs but I just haven't gotten around to it yet, mostly because I don't know where I would mount the ballast and also there doesn't seem to be a particular brand that I can trust going off of reviews. So many companies make HID kits and I just the best of both world, cheap and quality.

If you're going to get these than I highly suggest using HIDs. The light output is a little bit less than stock I believe, although the halos themselves actually put out a crazy amount of ambient light.

Thanks.
There use to be a seller who sold the Eagle eyes with HIDs pre-installed and they looked good. You can get a HID kit for like $80 so I would say do it. I got laid off recently and won't be putting any work into my lude for a while myself.

Can an HID-Kit be used with them?
I know it says Eagle Eyes in your parts list, but I haven't been able to find a website.
I've come up with two sets, and I'm not sure if they are made by the same company or not??

Take a look and let me know what you think?

Here is the other set.

Everything on them works well still, HIDs do work and the company claims to have a lifetime warranty on the cold cathodes in case they go out.

The question doesn't make sense. The halos are cold cathode, so yes CCFL. The projectors are H3 and can house HIDs. In fact I would suggest that if you're going to get these that you also get HIDs because the regular halogen bulb doesn't put out much light, although you have that nice cut-off look. I'm thinking about eventually doing a retrofit on these because I love the halos, hate the 3 LEDs and would like a wider more accurate projector like TSX or S2K.

You're making something simple complicated.

The LEDs are just LEDs and have nothing to do with the CCFL, halogen or HIDs.

The CCFL halos are just CCFL halos and have nothing to do with the LEDs, halogen or HIDs.

It's the halogen H3 bulbs that you will replace with H3 HIDs. There are two bulbs in each housing, one for high beams and one for low. You only need to replace the low beams with HIDs and as long as you buy H3 HIDs it will be a direct fit, plug and play essentially. The low beams are located in the projectors and can simply be removed by moving the rubber seal gromet out of the way and unscrewing the bulb retainer pin. It's really very easy.

Just to clear up one thing about the cut off,
There is nothing wrong with them. I have the same
cutoff on my S2K. That is a design built into the light
to keep from blinding the traffic coming towards you.

The HID have such a bright glare, it is almost impossible to
see when it is pointing dead on into a person eye.

I think there is like a 2-3 degree angle difference, just for
this purpose.

The passenger side with the halogen bulb that they came with.

The driver side with 4.3k 35 watt HID.

My camera on my phone takes the worst pictures.

I know this is an old thread but I nuts bought these too from ebay but I got the ones with hids in them already. I haven't installed them but just so u know they don't come with a slim ballast, so if your thinking about getting these I would suggest buying the headlights N hids separate.
