JTC Customs Short Shifter!

Got my SS in yesterday..superfast shipment for sure! I got it in and the first thing I noticed was how heavy it is..that this is nice..believe me. The install wasn't too bad..the thing that took the longest was the trimming of the console. I read where it may not be necessary with the original size setup but it was def. necessary for mine. I trimmed all the way flush down and it is still bumping into the front a slight bit. I'm pretty picky..so some folks may not care..but I would like to get it to where it doesn't touch at all. I'm not sure if that is possible or not. I did take it for a drive...oh my lord...haha that thing is amazing! The shifting is tight but yet still pretty smooth and its most def. NOT uncomfortable. It feels great! The shifts are short and very precise. I would more than go to say it is well worth the 100$!

Thanks...and go ahead and get one!

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

Thanks Matt. Its good to hear everyone is enjoying them as much as I am. Makes all the extra work Ive put in feel much more worth it.

Im surprised at the extra trimming needed, but I can understand how its needed. Thank goodness its on the underside of the shift boot where it will never be seen right?

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

I just got done driving the car again and let me tell ya...it makes me excited to come to a stop just so I can shift through the gears again...I LOVE it haha! It will never be seen but I have just got to figure out exactly where it is hitting. I believe it is on the front of the 3 hole part of the shifter but I'm not totally sure..I just glanced at it last night. Either way..it is well worth the money that is for sure.

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

correct. the 4th gen is the only one I have out right now. You can use it in the 5th gen if you pick up a 4th gen metal shifter base and replace the plastic base you have.

The 5th gen shifter will be out around christmas.

nice... good to hear its not a POS lol jk tommy... but the only spot that would be hitting is where u trimmed and its the linkage line not where it connect since you have a normal short one...

we did test one that was stupid short and it would hit the connector but that b.c we were just messing around with how short we could make it

glad you like tho

I'm telling ya'll..the more I drive it the more I love it...its sick as heck haha. But I def. think you are right. So I need to trim more? I didn't thing I could trim any higher lol. The problem may be that I didn't trim enough side to side. I pretty much left the corners I believe. Its not big deal to fix though! I will def. post pictures when I do...I even made a video comparison I need to figure out how to get up here. The red powdercoating def. gave me 5.2 more whp...

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

Got mine yesterday. Put it on and it's awesome.
Very smooth and firm. I love it.

Installing it was easier than what I thought. A little messy because of the grease but I install it in about 1 hour, maybe a little more. The trimming was the more time consuming since I have to go back and check to see if it was hitting and trim some more.

I have the same problem that vansnxtweek have. I trimmed all I could and it's still hitting the console. 1st and 3rd barely hits but 5th hits a little more. I took the boot off so I could see where it hits and is the connecting ring thingy (don't know the name). I don't think there's any way to avoid it hitting since I cant trim any more. But the hitting is very little I can live with it. (This is in the top hole, shortest trow, the other two are fine)

Vansnxtweek if you found any solution to this please let me know.

Other than that is perfect. lilbluelude I was thinking that maybe the consoles are sightly different because you say that yours didn't have any issues and in the photos you posted I can see yours is a 94-96 console and I have a 93. Because if the hole for the boot was just 1/4 inch forward it wouldn't hit after the trimming.

Anyway is a great mod for the car and I recommend it anyone. You will love it.

Thanks a lot to lilbluelude for putting this together and being so helpful through emails. He answered all my questions. Keep it up.

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

thats great to hear...

Your on to something as well with the differences in the consoles.. All the testing has been done on the 94-96 console.. I didnt think anything of the differences in them as I assumed it was all the other part..

Ill do some checking and some work on it... Ill figure out what we need to trim on option 1 for those that are bumping a bit to make it work easiest with anyone who has bumping issues.

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

Got my ss in last week but was in Florida, and just got it put in today. Shipping was quick, and Tommy was great to deal with. Powder coat, and the quality of the ss in general are great. Love the extra weight on it, and how it sits a little lower than the stock shifter. Install was pretty easy and I had to trim very little off but I'm only using it on the 2nd setting. Been driving around most of the day running errands and I didn't even mind having to stop! All in all I love it and would recommend it to anybody! SOOOO worth the money!!

Amazing product. Great customer service. I really love the SS. The best thing I've done to my prelude, so far. I love the way it feels, and shifts so smoothly.

Re: JTC Customs Short Shifter!

Definitely worth the money. I had an uncontrollable smile on my face while test driving my lude during installation. The throw isn't on the shortest setting right now (because I didn't have time to trim the console), but the shifting just feels incredibly solid and smooth. I also bought one of the discounted shift knobs in chrome, and it looks great and adds the perfect amount of weight to the top of the shifter (the knob is heavy as sh*t).

BTW I have the height as low as possible without trimming the shifter assembly and the throw on the longer setting, and there is absolutely no bumping. I will be trying the shorter throw setting soon, which I think will require trimming the console, but I'm sure it'll be worth the extra effort.

I've heard nothing but good things from the lude owners that have purchased JTC SS. I have a couple of guys local to me that use them.
