Icon13 fidanza flywheel

Ok let me first state this. I love the way the car revs on this thing dont get me wrong. I have never hard started the car aka left it in gear and hit the key ( car had a remote start on it so I dont have to push in the clutch to start her ) nor have I hit the key wile the car is running ( again im a 26 year old man not a 80 year old man or any year old woman )

Ths F**king plie of sh!t they sold me is falling apart. Yes I have had this thing in my car for over 4 years now but the god damn gear ring that the starter uses is spining in circles so now I have pop start her. Thank god I'm doing a clutch change next weekend. other wise I would be sending this pile of crap back to Fidanza in a box along with some fresh dog sh!t.

This is not the first time I have had a lightened fly wheel do this to me the clutch masters one did it right as I needed a clutch change ( kinda weird imo )

What I'm getting at is do not buy one of these fly wheels. If you road race and really need a light weight flywheel so you can heal toe down shift better get and ACT. The ACT one are 1piece and unlike all of the other light weight fly wheels on the market you can have them resurfaced, so instead of spending 100 bucks on some little plate that you have to bolt in ( if your luckey enough to get the screws out with out stripping them ) you spend 40 bucks on getting the thing planed.

If I was to rate this thing on a 1 to 10 scale I'd give it a 5. Yes it has lasted a long time with my abuse ( lots of hard driving ) but imo if I'm going to spend my money on something I would like it to do what it was intended of doing and that would be lasting a long long time ( 4 years is not a long long time ) So spend the extra cash now and get the ACT flywheel because in the long run you'll be spending less.

After 4 years i dont think so. I just don't think they last that long. Like I was saying a safer bet would be to buy an ACT flywheel. You'll spend less money inn the long run anyway.

take the fact the replacement face for the Fidanza is 100 bucks each time you change out the clutch and you can resurface the ACT ( most places 30-45 buck) You have saved there. Also with the ACT being a 1part design, you wont have what happened to me happen.

Re: fidanza flywheel

Ok guys. I talked to the man at Fidanza about my issue. He first question was. Do I drag race the car and do I pre-load the clutch. I answered well yes. I guess the way the gear ring is mated to the flywheels it is super heated then super cooled ( the gear ring is smaller then the fly wheel there for it is stuck on there) buy me preloading the clutch over time it became more and more lose. Steel cools slower then aluminum causing the issue I had.

IMO that is a dumb a$$ way to make the flywheel and if I ever go back to a lwfw I will still get an ACT

Re: fidanza flywheel

I have had the 8lbs fidanza flywheel, thought after 10k miles i took it off and put in a 10lbs one. once i get the m2a4/m2b4 tranny the 8lbs flywheel is going back in with a new plate. this is the first time seeing someone having trouble. sorry to hear about it. hope all goes well and hope act treats you much better. you are right about clutch masters though; they are ****tty. i had stage 1 clutch from clutch masters and it went out on me quickk!! And NO i'm not a rookie driver. it was just ****!!!

Re: fidanza flywheel

wow... i have had my fidanza for 5 years WOW>.. i have only changed the friction plate once. I haven't had any issues w/ it or any of my customers cars. I highly recommend the fidanza because of the 50- replacement plate. I have installed the ACT ones they aren't bad but they don't come w/ new pilot bearings. The fidanza does... which while I am in there i like changing as much wearable parts as possible.

Pre loading a clutch is were using the parking brake to hold you in place wile having the clutch engaged ( most of the time I get it to engage and hold it at 3grand) dont do it to much though as in you just want the clutch to just be grabbing a little bit. Doing this save trannies and axles.

Surely the throw-out bearing would come with the clutch, not flywheel? OEM is generally recommended anyway.
