Icon14 Weapon R spec short shift adapter review

bought it off ebay for 15shipped, was worried at first when i seen the picture online because it looked really chromed out

but when i recieved it today, it was axodized grey and not the chrome look thanksfully, the seller packaged it really good, and came in oem box which was surprising because normally when they mail usps its just in the envelope....

well install was pretty straight foward, even a caveman could do it lol

just unbolt shifter link from shifter, install the adapater (had to bend right plate out a bit, because the bolt wouldnt line up and go through the hole, unless bent out first, no big deal,

after that take the shift linkage, insert it into the other end, then that the supplied bolt screw it in the the adapter/shift linkage, twist the allen bolt till it snug against shifter then put the console back together, can do this before you connect the shift linkage to make it a little easier

the shifting feels more crisp, and the adapter doesnt hit the shift boot, like other adapters i read about total time about 15-30mins

diffently tell the throw is alot shorter, probably best 15 bucks i spent in awhile

attached pictures are of the adapter installed

Re: Weopon R spec short shift adapter review

I bought one. Installed it and when I put the shift boot back on it raises the plastic near the ashtray... Can't drive with it like that.

EDIT: Okay upon further investigation it's the linkage that's getting in the way. Those of you having problems you'll have to shave down the front and center of the plastic that holds the boot. Should be about 1 inch of shaving down from the middle of the middle staple. For now I just left my boot off til I can pick up some sand paper or a dremel.

Re: Weopon R spec short shift adapter review

Just installed one on my 5th gen.
Shifts are definitely shorter, worth the $15 I paid.
The only problems seem to be that you should cut off any excess threads on the
bold they provide (you'll probably understand if you install one) and I practically
had to re-machine the center part to get it to fit around the shifter.

So overall its worth the money if you have a little extra cash and don't mind
customizing the part yourself, but if you have a lot of extra cash go with
the pspec, which is what I'm going to do after I get a full exhaust finished,
it just doesnt bother me enough to replace it now

Re: Weapon R spec short shift adapter review

I bought the Weapon R short shift adapter from eBay, but it looks different form the picture above and it hits the shfit boot lid when I shift into 5th or reverse. I trimmed some off, but still touches the lid. I am not happy about this mod.

Re: Weapon R spec short shift adapter review

I tried installing in a 5 gen and could not do so without a lot of shaving

Re: Weapon R spec short shift adapter review

I heard these strech the linkage out after time and damage the sychros.
