OBX Type-R Short Shift Adapter

The goal I had in mind was to shorten my shift length, but not drop mad cash on a pspec kit. So i looked around and finally came to find the neuspeed and OBX adapters. I paid 50 shipped for this on ebay and its exactly the same as the neuspeed.

First impression: I was delighted when I opened the box to find an annodized aluminum adapter recessed into a silky fabric.

Whats included: The adapting block, hardware, instructions, and 2 allen keys. There are only 3 tools you need other than what is included to complete the entire install... an 8mm wrench, 13mm wrench, and a phillips screw driver.

Install process: Simple and super easy to do. It took me about 20 min from start to finish.

Conclusion: I took it for a test spin right after i finished installing the adapter. I noticed a difference when shifting into 2nd and 4th much more than 1st 3rd and 5th. The difference was noticeable, but nothing I would brag about. If you are looking for a SLIGHTLY shorter stroke, this is perfect for you. I did notice that actual shifting is a little stiffer... nothing rediculous, but it does have a more fun feel being slightly stiffer.

Re: OXB Type-R Short Shift Adapter

PSPEC true short shifter is way better, and safer.
Good luck with it, but I've just seen too many cases with the adapters malfunctioning.

Cracking, a few even just straight up broke. It's just not as dependable

Re: OXB Type-R Short Shift Adapter

'97 base model

I decided on the OBX after I realized it was exactly the same... and almost $50 cheaper.

The milling and everything is the same. Its such a simple design... im tempted to make my own and see if i can improve its design

Yes pspec is by far better... thats why its $220

So far it feels solid, but its alson its first day of driving...

Re: OXB Type-R Short Shift Adapter

Did you have to trim the shifter boot or the plastic?
Cause those parts would always get in the way on the old model when shifting to 3rd or 5th

Re: OXB Type-R Short Shift Adapter

I didn't trim anything... nothing was in the way to hit. Also, its now been over a year of driving with no problems.
