Refurbishing my Wheels(What you Think?)

So after waiting for Winter to pass i finally had a good day to start my new project and is restoring my old 92-93 Si wheels.
Method i used was some good old elbow grease, sand paper and some MOTHERS alloy wheel polish, some towels. 150, 180 grid sand paper was what i had laying around so i used it. So far i have only done the front passenger side since i took me all day to remove all 15+ years of damage and neglect. But after sanding and sanding removing all that crud then polishing to were i would like it im done (with one Wheel)

Before: (Just so you know this what the rear looks like but believe me they all look like this! if not worse)

After: About 4+ hours to be exact!

Re: Refurbishing my Wheels(What you Think?)

Take some white out and put a small mark on the tire where the wheel weight is, than with a flat head gently pry it off so you can clean under it (next time you get your wheels balanced that weight will most likely move to a different spot) than after you get it looking good gently hammer it back on where the mark is. They look good tho :) also a couple coats of good clear will help keep them looking fresh.

Thats actually what i plan on doing, I want to do the rest of the wheels(will replace the front driver side lots of curb rash from past owner) then will get the alignment that way i can get access to that spot can't really notice it but i bugs the hell out of me knowing its their.

Excellent! I've been trying to do the same with my sunflowers before I put them on, but I have the extra obstacle of silver spray paint on 3 of them. I'll keep the wheel polish in mind because the one I've stripped paint from looks worse than your before picture right now! The product of the weather and my work schedule not cooperating...

Good job, Mugen, now you're f*cking with your pants off!

You gonna leave them that satin finish, or polish them to a reflective mirror finish?

Looks great but OMG did you seriously do that with the wheel still on!? My back hurt so much after just sitting on the ground doing one of mine, I can't imagine how much other parts of me would hurt if I left the wheel on.

HAHAHA
NO i posted in perentheses in the Before pic that that was the rear wheels and the After pics were the Front wheels you can also tell that because if you look at the mud flaps the screws are in different locations.

I will be doing the other today(the one in the Before Pic). Then i will post a pic of the whole Rights side done and the Whole left undone for a better Before/After pic.

Re: Refurbishing my Wheels(What you Think?)

Did the other side today.
Before showing what the driver side looks like:

After showing the passenger side that has been done:

Close up on the rear since the sun ruined my last pic.

I had to fixed some curb rash so i used a method that i don't recommend to any newbie. Takes precision(Lots of it!) or else you ruin the wheels. Notice how the Left side has curb rash well the right area had it too but i used my Method and fixed it all the way to the little piece of sand paper to show you how much i fixed. Just wanted to show before and after side by side.

Hyper silver wheel paint over the work you did, would be theft-worthy, lol!

Just once in off topic, wanna see your C-10. If you look around, you can find my GMC blue beetle suburban. Also A quick thread about ultra enamel from Tempo paint. Good sh!t when you can find it!

Wet sanding is better than dry 99% of the time. On bare metal, it's always better. Just don't wet sand body filler. I made that mistake once. LOL.
