16.9???

My V-TEC was unplugged and I was running low 18's and high 17's on the track till I figured out that's what the problem was. After I got it plugged back in I was running high 16's and i know that's not what I should be running. I'm thinking there might be a million other reasons why but not sure of any. Here's what i got to offer; DC headers, flowmaster-highflow cat, full stainless steel cat back, ebay CAI with K&N filter, auto tranny with SS, 18 inch wheels ( ). What could it be anyone got some ideas? The motor is pretty much stock (for now) by the way.

That seems about wear you need to be. All the thing you have done don't do to much. H22s the DC is a stock replacement just looks better. Did u use the SS or have it in the D? If you had it in the SS wear did you shift at on all the gears.

I used the SS, was shifting at 8k, barely got to use 4th gear.

I shifted at 7500 but was to scared to push it past the red line on the gauge. If u hit 8k ever time and never hit the rev limiter the you shifted great. So i would say it's wear it should be. when ppl say high 15's low 16's i think they mean with a manual. the auto will be a lil slower b/c of the take off.

I was past the end of the track already when I hit 4th, didn't need it by then but I used it anyways for giggles lol. i know the 18's slow me down and then the auto sucks at takeoff but wasn't sure what exactly my time should be.

The auto is the main issue. First gear is taller than most pro basketball players, and second isn't much better. Damn moonshine gearing.

Those numbers are about where you'll be without doing a SS --> 5spd swap.

16.9 was what my auto H23 ran the first time at the track with just and intake and whatever fartcan came with the car. Those 18s must be HEAVY. Are you sure vtec kicked in yo?

the rims will make the most difference... as long as vtec is kickin in. yes u can get a tire that is not as tall but it still makes some difference.

got to a tire shop a lot of them will do it for you for like $5-$10 bucks. That what my friend does with his car when he does to the track. Has a nice set of 17's but stock with a nice track tire.

yeah u can get drag radials that will fit ur stock rims...it will be better anyways for traction reasons b.c u will have alot more tread on the ground...thin tires dont allow the tire to grab the road very well..

tires really arent his problem. he could run nice street tires on the stock wheels and never run into traction problems. His downfall is not being able to rev the engine off the line.

He could always break with one foot and hold revs with the other, not exactly "launching" but yeah. And it's not just the weight of the wheels, its how wide they are. Even if the 18s were only say 15lbs the weight of them would still be spread further out making it harder for your car to rotate them.

I brake and gas to bring up my rpm for launch but hey, it's an auto, tall that is lost as soon as I let go of the brake. My reaction time still needs a little work though, I lauunch on the last yellow, need to launch on the one b4 that. What's the highest I can take the rpm's now that my v-tec is working again??? One more thing, I don't race this all the time, just now and then to get rid off the boredom brought on by this place, lol.

I launch at 6K but you'll probably be burning out if you try that in your auto.
