Help rough idle, extreme in loss power ,backfiring

Ok one I was driving my car all day, I left it to do a couple off things and then came back to drive it I was low on gas but I always am, I was having a little fun with a miata so I down shifted to 2nd from 40 and took off to coast to a redlight, after that I tried to race it from a dig but when I took off it was like taking off in 3rd gear no power sluggish very weak. I have bien driving the car for a week or to like this easy to drive normal until 4k when it seems like its not trying almost like its cutting off, vtec will kick in when its supposed to and car will feel the pull then when vtec ends it goes back to back firing, we thought my timing belt skipped a tooth cause its the SAME symptoms I read online, but we went ahead and changed timing belt cause it looked like a hole in it, timed it and nothing changed, mechanics gave me a list off things but im about to give up it things tried we Compression fine Spark plugs and getting spark test are good Ecu swap from working car nothing Distributor swap nothing Timing belt change and time nothing Unplugged msd nothing Map censor unplug nothing No check engine light Its an 94 prelude with a h22a4 from a 97 obd1 car obd2 motor

Also its sometimes hard to start like I will turn key car will crank once seem like it died then crank 3 more times slowly and it will start all with out taking it out off off positions

Listen to Lindso.

I have similar symptoms but mine are very minor compared to yours so can't even be bothered to do anything about it.

If it ain't fuel related, and if you haven't, get your distributor checked with a timing light make sure your ignition timing isn't retarded. Just replacing the distributor isn't enough, making sure it's timed right is the other half of replacing it.

Those are some easy checks to make, I would start there for sure.
But when you say "injectors", what exactly do you mean ? checking resistance ? Or unplugging them while running to check for changes in idle ? Could he be having a misfire ?

I have the same issue and was informed to check ignition timing with timing light, TPS, and crank sensor. Hope you get issue fixed. When I get my issue fixed I'll make sure to close out my thread that I have by putting the results there and here as well for you.

i had a very similar issue and my tps sensor made the cel go on. misfiring, loss of power, real high/out of wack idle, and a weird engine sound. what ended up happening was 1 of the gear pins came loose causing the timing to jump. try not to drive it until yu fix cuz yu might end up making things worse. good luck
