Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

I've been up trying to search this cause I have no experience with exhaust systems so I figured I will ask. I'm spending $1000 on this and I want it right. I have the Vibrant header part #2540 coming in and it says it's a cat delete model and the skunk2 megapower full exhaust system coming in as well. I was wondering if I needed to purchase a high flow cat or anything like that or can I just bolt it on to each other? The city I'm in does NOT have emissions but I wouldn't mind it being more cleaner. Thanks in advanced.

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

CAT DELETE MODEL = NO CAT

No point in purchasing a cat to run with the header. Basically, you'll waste $300 on a cat installed with the header. Lifespan on the cat decreases with these types of header.
Unless you want one to have for emissions, I wouldn't bother.

Get a test pipe, for maximum air flow. Don't blame me if you get in trouble though. Test Pipes are illegal.

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

Alright. I heard somewhere that you can get something that looks like a cat and just cover the test pipe with it.. Lol. But I dont think you will pass a sniffer. It's just for visual. Just throwing that out there. Don't flame me if I'm wrong. Hah. So I NEED to purchase a test pipe right?

Well, when it's time for inspection (49-states), smog (cali), you will want to run a catalyst converter. It'd be dumb for someone to run anything but a cat.

To purchase or not, is up to you. Just know it is illegal for street use.

If you're in California, make sure to get the California compliant Cat. If you're not in Cali, disregard what I just said. You guys have it easy!

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

Ya Im in arizona so no need to worry about that. One more question. Sorry. The vibrant header is 2.5 inch outlet and the skunk2 exhaust is 60mm I believe inlet. Could I just get a 2.5 inch converter and the muffler shop can figure out a way to have it fit the 60mm pipe?

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

Ok the guy at my local muffler shop said he can stretch the inlet of the exhaust to 2.5 inches. Now I just play the waiting game and wait for my stuff to ship in..

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

you need to do some "custom" fitting/piping with this header

one tip for you: get it welded together when you get it. mine leaked and I had to take it out again and get it welded

Re: Vibrant header onto Skunk2 Exhaust?

No point in putting a cat on a header like those, it will destroy it.
