Icon7 FITV/idle cured

'95 Lude H22 5-speed. Its my son's car. I'm the mechanic, he's not. Not familiar with Hondas although I have changed a timing belt on this machine, clutch servos, starter, etc.
Thing developed an oscillating idle. Several hundred RPM, very consistent. Was driving me nuts! Checked the million or so hoses for vac leaks, blocked off the IACV. No fix. Don't have a manual, and the ALLDATA DIY online manual is.....less than helpful for some stuff.
Did some online research, checked out some youtube videos, led me to investigating the FITV. VOILA!! Info I picked up online was to screw the plastic valve seat ring to 'tight'.....then back it off 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Well when I removed the end cap, the valve guts practically fell out! I'd say that's 'just a tad' out of adjustment! Cleaned it all up, set it to 3/16 turn back-off.
Knew immediately upon fire-up that this had corrected the idle problem, and I now understand why the massive mis-adjustment created the problem. How the FITV got so out of whack is a mystery, perhaps engine vibration over time caused the valve seat to back out.
Thank much to posters/members of various car forums. KTH
