Does anyone know if there is a DIY thread on how to change the axles. Its my DD and I only have one shot to get all the right tools and what not...

Re: changing axles

What year/model? Wrenches to take off ball joints, tie rod, brakes, and axle nut. 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, and axle nut socket(32, 34, 36mm depending on year). Large hammer, or tie rod/ball joint seperator. Those should be most of it. If you have done it before it should take 30 minutes or less. If its your first time plan on 2-3 hours. You will need a few new cotter pins for ball joint/tie rods. Pneumatic/air tools make the job a lot easier.

Re: changing axles

36mm for the axle nut, use a air gun to get it off.
Lower ball joint is a 19mm
Lower arm bolt is a 17mm
Strut clamp bolt is a 14mm
Prybar
Hammer
Torque wrench
That is all you need.

- Remove axle bolt
- Remove lower ball joint bolt
- Hit LCA with hammer near ball joint (don't hit the ball joint)
- Pry on the spring and the upper A arm, pushing the upper A arm down and the spring up, hit on the LCA more if needed, this should pop the lower ball joint
- Remove the strut fork by removing both the clamp and bolt on the LCA
- Remove axle from knuckle
- Pry on the axle and the trans
- Remove axle
- Reverse to install, torque all bolts to Factory Specs, see Factory service manual in the 4th gen resource guide.
