AEM FPR causing long start Long cold crank

i am posting this simply as a landmark for anyone who will find them selves where i did.
If your car takes an unusually long time to start...
and you know your fuel pump is good
and you have an aem fpr
i am under the impression there is some kind of drain back valve
that is designed to hold fuel from the regulator back to the pump
much like what happens if you place your thumb atop a straw and
pull it out of a glass of water.
i switched back to the oem one and problem vanished immediately.
i also confirmed this to be true on a friends b18 motor with the
same style fpr same problem.
Apparently aem failed tremendously at making it work right, or it just does
have this (valve or diaphragm) the oem style one does.
We beat eBay every day.

Re: AEM FPR causing long start Long cold crank

hey i have a similar problem right after installing the aem fuel rail and fpr only difference is the car would jerk/choke at WOT, so i ended up plugging the vacuum port that goes to the regulator in order to solve the problem. another problem is at cold startup, my fuel pump would make a buzzing noise but would go away after the car gets warm

would you happen to know if all of their regulators are this faulty or did i just get a bad batch?
