needs a little help with mods

I have some money right now and i want to get an aem v2 intake and possibly a header? If I would get the intake and header, would I run into any problems with taking in too much air and having all the restrictions in the exhaust?
I would appreciate any help

Re: needs a little help with mods

I have DC headers on my lude with an Apexi exhaust. I absolutely love the sound of it. I have an AEM intake to, doesn't sound bad what so ever.

Re: needs a little help with mods

whats with all this importance of how an intake sounds!?! damn, i can see how an exhaust sounds, but a fuking intake?!?! the v2 is a good choice, who cares what it sounds like. and with the header unless youre gonna spend big bucks, its not really worth it. unless you want to dress your engine bay up a little bit

V2 is a good intake. But like upsluder said, unless u wanna just dress up the engine bay, dont get the dc header. Save up for a good header. Ex. Hytech, smsp, rmf

The intake sound is important for some people and the sound differs greatly between induction kits. The different sound of the induction is more noticable if you dont have a huge fart can exhaust on the car. I had an HKS Powerflow induction on my last lude and it growled all the time, my current "Type S" intake makes a far better noise IMO.

ya I have a type s + k&n - resonator and I know it sounds differant. but sound alone shouldn't justify what intake you buy. things I'd look for are power, price, maybe even color. function > form. ALWAYS

The V2 is definitely worth it. the V2 works much like the Bisimoto Headers. The stepped piping allows for an increase in flow which can aid in HP production.

For your question about the exhaust, you will not have any problems running to a "stock" exhaust system, but if you do eventually upgrade to a bigger system you will see gains from this and as a whole from you exhaust system(headers included)

Re: needs a little help with mods

The V2 intake isn't worth the money, save your change and buy a better panel filter. The stock intake on the H22 is incredible. Tests have proven that the V2 will net about 2-4whp over the stocker. Which isn't worth the money trade off.

The best intake setup for any H22 is a 3" inner diameter pipe as long as possible. So a 3" CAI would out perform the V2.

As for a header, I highly recommend getting a Bisi header, RMF, Hytech, SMSP or similar, the DC sport header is a stock header knock off, the only thing you'll gain is a lighter header... not worth it.

As for an exhaust, go the custom route. Buy some resonators, a nice muffler all of which should be no smaller then 2.5" inner diamter, this should be the starting point for all H22's or hell, all Honda Engines.

I did my homework for my H22 and picked out the proper bolt ons, netted me 211whp, STOCK H22!

Re: needs a little help with mods

The engine is stock internally, nothing was done to the motor in order to achieve my hp level.

The car drives incredibly aggressive.

The Euro R manifold is OEM

the only thing I have is bolt ons, which in return makes the engine stock. It's like dropping your car and saying it's not stock... that's redunkculous.

Oh yeah the H22 is in a 3GP

Re: needs a little help with mods

Not much, Rosko has a write up, I bought my manifold through him.

my boys H2B setup went from 182whp to 191whp with the euro R on an engine that's very tired.

Re: needs a little help with mods

sounds alright.
but i would just get a ebay Cold air intake for like 40 bucks, put a k&n filter on it.
and I then use the money saved on the intake to go towards a quality header(Ex. Hytech, smsp, rmf, even a replica one).

dont go with a greddy/dc header. they're more just to look good. you may get some improvement over stock from it, but very minimal. i know i have a dc 4-2-1 on mine right now(came with the car) and i cant wait to take it out and put in my new esp header.
