I want to get every bit out of my prelude

Its 2.2 vtec so lots of potential, its pretty standard now,one thing though is that there is no vtec in 1st gear and it limits at 7000rpm (goes from 5-8 in vtec in 2nd-5th) so obviously it not great off the mark, i have a lot of plans like induction kit, 4 branch and so on but do i need to modify the ecu first to get the most out of it and if so any suggestions. Was thinking of putting in an apexi AFC neo but unsure if it will improve it or not.

PS.im not willing to turbo it.
Thanks

depends really, how much you looking to spend?
none the less best would be to start off with a I/H/E.
no real need or reason to tune, even with a piggy back, a stock engine...

Re: I want to get every bit out of my prelude

How much you wanna spend? How fast you'll be is directly proportional to how much money you spend when going N/A.

A simple I/H/E and tune will yeild roughly 10-15% increase at the wheels (yes a tune IS required), but after that you have to start spending big money. Your next stop should be things like cams (and all the associated valvetrain upgrades that higher spec cams require) intake manifold, etc.

There's tonnes of subjects on here if you care to look. Once you've got some more idea on where you're headed, then come back with more questions.

dont think you read i right, one thing he asked is if he should "modify the ecu first to get the most out of it" in which no he shouldn't. it would be a waste of money to do that First.

but ya like Brash22 was saying, after you get the I/H/E would be a good time to get it tuned though.
