Type S Intake
Does the type S intake have a different sound than the regular intakes on the 5th gen ludes? Can anyone point me in the direction of a good quality (sound) video of it. Thanks.

Re: Type S Intake
If you leave the resonator on, then there is no sound change. If you remove the resonator, then it sounds just like the stock intake with the resonator removed.

Re: Type S Intake
sorry but i have to disagree w/ you C.
the type s intake gives off a very nice throaty sound. i've compared it w/ an aem cold air intake and the V2 also. the owners of those 2 ludes and myself only had the intakes at the time. all 3 agreed that the sound from mine was far better than theirs. about a month later i dropped in a K&N Drop In air filter and removed the stock resonator and the sound quality got even better. i highly recommend the Type S Intake to any 5th gen owner ![]()

Re: Type S Intake
Any problems with taking the reso. off? And does anyone know if Mugen made a intake for our 5th gens? Wanna keep all my mods either factory replacement parts or Mugen. Keep it nice and authentic. I've looked high and low for a while and have only come across them for other honda/acura's. Boooooo!

Re: Type S Intake
I agree that it gives a throaty sound, but with the resonator in place the sound was no different to the stock intake. Though with the reso off I'm not really sure, as I took it off after I fitted the Type S, and haven't stuck the stocker back on for comparison's sake.
No there aren't, and no they didn't. Mugen's Type S Prelude just had the regular Type S intake. As for the resi, there are plenty of posts about removing it on here, even a couple DIYs in the vault.

Re: Type S Intake
Anyone know whether the Type-S intake will fit in a fourth-gen? Trying to rebuild my brother's fourth-gen and am looking for non-CAI intake options
Thanks |

Re: Type S Intake
Yes it will work in a 4G. I want one but $ says no!

Re: Type S Intake
That's not a bad price at all. I want my cabin to be quieter and to have better low and midrange power, this should be perfect. Any good place for the entire Type S exhaust system?

Re: Type S Intake
I have a type s intake with a k&n filter and resonator removed its great during normal driving its a little louder, but when I open it up the sound difference is noticeable its louder and better sounding than the stock intake.

Re: Type S Intake
This place is out of stock and I'm looking to order it right now, any where else I can get this?

Re: Type S Intake
I got a hold of them and they should be getting more in about 4 weeks.

Re: Type S Intake
Only other option I can think of is to order from Japan (rhdjapan, greenline, etc.). Doesn't seem to be a single part number for it though.

Re: Type S Intake
Probably going to purchase this tonight but I think I'll go with the AEM dryflow filter, any idea on the part number?

Re: Type S Intake
Just call Advance auto for the K & N part#. I think it sells for ~$40.

Re: Type S Intake
So the Type-S uses the same filter as the USDM?
|
|
|||
Re: Type S Intake
Yes it does, in fact you have to use the lower part of the OEM intake where the filter goes with the Type S intake.

Here is another link to get it for a bit cheaper if anyone is interested:
Boom Plus Toys > Performance > JDM > Honda/Acura > Prelude > BB6 Scroll down and you'll see it.

Re: Type S Intake
the type-s intake seems pretty legit for what im looking for. i was turned off from a cold air and a short ram cause of the risk of hydrolocking and heatsoak. because of the different tubing, will i have to make any modifications in order for it to fit right?

Keep in mind that as the outside air temperature goes up, the air density in the intake piping goes down which results in a more lower frequency and more throaty type sound no mater what kind of Intake you have. No mods are necessary : It slides right into place with no drama and only takes a few minutes to install. Also the Type S and stock intake are both CAI designs.
