idle problems

New 1st. Gen. Owner,

I need some help, i recently bought a 81 prelude, from a guy who parked it in a garage for 10 yrs. and wondered why it wouldn't run. I bought it for $600.00 here is a few details about the car. 114,000 miles, body is in fair shape, paint is faded badly ( looks pink). Interior is in pretty good shape normal wear and tear. I have replaced all the fluids, new plugs, and wires. All new hoses and I had the timing belt and waterpump replaced. Valves adjusted and new drive belt. I had to replace the carb. the original one was so gummed up, it was beyond repair. The thing that is bothering me is when I start it cold, it runs like crap on the first level of idle, it smell like it's running way to rich, than when the idle increases the motor smoothes out, and after it's warm it idles fine. Any suggestions to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
