:::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

Hello all. I've introduced myself in the NMA and just wanted to post a few pics of the lude here, and share my progress with her.

I got her out of Wesley chapel Florida for $2700 cash. Car has 146k miles on the clock. Car is pretty clean inside and out. Runs exceptionally well.

Current plans include new power steering hose. Its leaking and a new one is on the way.

Oil change for sure using castrol 10w-30 and a Bosch filter

Timing belt and water pump is in the near future.

Also new OEM Honda badges are on the way.

For the fun stuff

SRS exhaust
SRS header
High flow cat
Type s intake
Skunk2 coilovers
Skunk2 shocks
Varrstoen v3 16x8 wheels
OEM lip kit

But for now. Here she is :) would like some feedback

Head lights look good. Use 5w30. Any particular reason your going with 10w30??

Just a little more durability on startup from what I understand.

Re: :::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

You made a good purchase dude! Is the steering wheel ripped? 5th genners seem to like swapping in S2000 steering wheels- retains the airbag, smaller diameter I think, and also has a thicker grip.

Cant wait to follow your progress!

Yea dang steering wheel is kinda shredded. I was thinking of going aftermarket but hate that its airbagless. $300 for a used s2000 wheel is mad

That is definitely clean. I was curious about the wheel too until you confirmed it. Looks like somebody was picking at it while driving or got so hungry that they had to chew on it.

Re: :::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

Idk what happened to the wheel. That's really the only flaw about the car other than it needing a $60 power steering hose. First mods are definitely exhaust header back and some coilovers.. Ahhhh I can't wait.. ****s gonna look ill

Re: :::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

Nice car.

No offense bro but.... it's about time we saw it!

The 5 or 10 in oil viscosity is how 'thin' it is when cold. 5 is thinner.
The 30 or 40 is how thick it is when warm. 40 is thicker.

Now for that steering wheel... check out redline goods or other places for a nice grippy cover. Parts stores have slip on covers as well.
Mine can with a slip on padded leather deal that adds diameter and covers any bad spots.
I took it off one day. Less than a minute later it went back on. The extra thickness is more comfy imo.

Re: :::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

I agree. Took me a while to get some courage to post it. The rx8 forums from what I'm used to are full of arrogance and a holes haha

I'm probably just going to run 10-30 its a nice oil weight. I ran 20-50 in the rotary lol those things are fickle.

I'm thinking of getting these. Sure its eBay but it seems tight and legitt

http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=190543703826

I'm honestly planning on also purchasing an SRS cat back exhaust and 4-2-1 header off of eeBay for like $450 shipped for the pair. Also going to get a test pipe and k&n drop filter for the time being until I feel like ponying up the doe for a type s

Also looking forward to the skunk2 coilovers. Ughhh wish i Ade more $ per hr haha

There's also a slightly rub at lock. Wonder if lower pro would prevent it

I am going to be getting some of those coils here pretty soon, I have a few questions. How do the EMUSA ride? and did yours come with the two extra bolts on the front's top hats? and if so do they just come off or did you have to knock them off?

Thanks

Re: :::JDMJunkei::: 98' Prelude 5 Speed Base

Thanks lindso she's definitely been a lot of fun so far.

Pretty much got the exterior the way I want. Now I would like to add a hytech rep header, skunk intake mani, and throttle body with kn drop in filter, and then a p28. That should pick up an extra 20hp I hope. I wanted to go more aggressive with the stance but it would be to hard to daily plus no more hair pin corners with fenders sitting on rubber.
