:::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

$1700 later this bad boy was mine. This is the first car I purchased with my own money and I couldnt be happier to be a part of the Lude family. I am going to be doing everything I can to learn anything I can on this car and I have a lot planned for it over time.

These pics are how the car came when I purchased it.

Everything from here on is stuff I have added.

Long term Ideas:

-5 Spd Swap
-Engine Swap
-Slam the **** out of it with some coilovers and full suspension upgrade
-5th Gen Sunroof Conversion
-Clean engine bay

Purchased/Installed:

Wings West RS Side Skirt & Rear Lip (Needs Paint) - $150 :::::Purchased:::::
JDM 1-Piece Headlights Black Housing w/ Hids - $100 :::::Purchased:::::
JDM Amber Corner Lights - $50 :::::Purchased:::::
Front & Rear Emblems - $12 :::::Installed:::::
JDM Yellow Fog Lights (Needs Bezel/Bracket/Switch) - $110 :::::Purchased:::::
Front Lip - $60 :::::Purchased:::::

WTB/Future Purchases Purchases:

Eyelids
New Front fenders with Amber Side markers (replace my dented and chipped paint)
Rims
Suspension Slam
Retrofit my headlights with projectors
T-T-T-TURBOOOO

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

looks like you got a pretty good starting point there. Looks stock except for the intake, exhaust, tow hook, plasti dip or painted wheels, window visors. Other than that look good. What are your plans for it? What do you want to achieve? How much do you want to spend on it? Welcome and beware of a few trolls on here that will tell you to 'OMFG DUDE!!! SEARCH!!!!!' when they forget that it's not that easy when you have no idea what you're looking for. So feel free to ask away.

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

I appreciate it! I have done quite a bit of searching so far and I have a pretty good grasp on everything that id like to do at this point, the engine/tranny swap are long term goals, my plans other than that are really just go with the flow at this point, So to actually answer the question im looking to spend everything I can on it because im literally addicted to the car.

My main goals are getting rims, front lip and fog lights right now though.

Timing belt/water pump change should be waaaaaaay up on your list unless you know it's been done as needed.

Nice car by the way. Like others said, take your time.

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

^^ Great news!

Junkyards are a great place to find parts to fix your car at times, learn how to disasseble/reassemble stuff, find cool stuff like fog lights, mud guards, and who knows what. Sometimes people throw away the darndest things.
Plus you help keep little peices of preludes alive.

Roadkillcustoms.com lists all the registered ones in your state.
Car-part.com is a national junkyard store.
Check 'em out sometime.

My cars have parts from about 20 (so far) preludes. I even found oem floor mats.

Well dayum that's a great piece of advice, I appreciate it, definitely gonna have to stop at the junkyard and see what I can find :0

Could really use an emblem for the back since someone stole the original -_-

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

Noticed I have a major oil leak somewhere, I couldnt figure out where it was coming from unfortunately so I had to bring it to the shop to get it checked out :(

Gonna set back my purchases a little while longer to pay for this fix.

Previous owner never mentioned anything about a leak so either they neglected to tell me or something happened while ive been driving, but the oil was full when I got it and after 2k miles it is now bone dry.

Wish I had to money to just do a 5spd swap and put in a h22..

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

I use them blitz pans under my car(s). No typical Honda spots on the road or driveway from parking overnight.
Clean it every couple of days with a paper towel to keep up with your leak(s).

Take your time. The motor/tranny swap will happen in due time.

Keep up the good work until...
You've already got a nice @$s car imo.

Who care's about everyone elses car?! Unless they are exactly what you'd hoped to achieve.

This^^ is what I strive for someday in my own style. Using my own techniques.
So while I do admire other people projects, I don't allow it to stray me off the path I wanna go.

Pick your poison, enjoy your car while you fix it up your way

No no no I completely agree with you! Im not looking to copy anyones in particular, I just like looking at everyones and seeing what they have done and then taking everything ive seen to visualize what I want mine to look like in the end!

I use the pictures to get ideas on what certain things would look like and whether or not I like it before I go spending money on things I might not like :P

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

In the meantime, you can spruce up what you have. Detail the engine bay, polish headlights, and other lenses, detail wheel wells and brake parts. If you can raise the car, focus on items nobody sees like the exhaust hangers or freshen the undercoat.
Little things like that set some otherwise low budget or plain cars ahead of the pack over highly modified vehicles.

Check out the rotm's and stickied rides and take note of how 'clean' n shiney every part of the car is.

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

Sounds like a plan to me!

My biggest problem right now with doing any kind of work on the car is that it is winter, and my garage isnt heated and has piss poor lighting -_- (Plug in lighting with a ceiling that is 10 ft tall = No light)

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

You have a garage? Awesome!

I do all my work in a driveway. I just put on some mechanix fast-fit, get out the simple green and a tooth brush and scrub away. An hour here, an hour there and things get done.
Back to black on all the plastic stuff and rubber, q-tips in the nooks n crannies, and furniture polish the interior stuff like the dash and doors.

There are tons of how to threads on detailing your car. Tips n tricks that save time. But definitely researchdo's n don'ts before power washing the engine bay. Lots of connectors are not water proof.

Look up the sicspeed store on ebay. They have a ton of little items like screws and washers, shift knobs and other accessories at reasonable prices that'll add pizazz galore without emptying your wallet.

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

Got my lude back today, 2 days without it was far too long haha $180 but no more oil leak from the oil pressure switch and I found out some other random things like the car has larger tires in the front than in the back which is why the front sits higher than the back.. sooo when I take the rims off to paint them ill switch them up and put the bigger ones on the back, still have the ABS and SRS lights on and they couldnt figure out why they are on so I still gotta figure that out.

But the car is running better than ever and the alternator belt got tightened up so no more squealing when I start the engine which makes the car sound a million times better.

Pictures and updates coming soon!

Re: :::iAmagZ::: 1996 SI

Just a small update, the previous owner had two different size tires on the car and for whatever reason but the larger tires in the front of the car so the front end was higher than the back.. I fixed that and put the larger tires in the back and I also made all the rims facing the same way.. I also removed the tow hook off the back.

Got some major freezing rain in the area and my entire drive way is a sheet of ice so id rather not take the risk and drive to go pick up the stuff I needed to do the delete.. :(

Will also be color modding the EL Cluster soon to match the blue lighting inside!

I have about $900 debt right now that I need to pay off before I can start making anymore big purchases sooo im just tryin to do some small stuff that doesnt take too much money or none at all :)
