Hey nice headlights! I've got the same ones on my lude. The jdm chrome housing were a bit rarer and they have quite a different feel than the black housing. Nice find!

LED's huh? Gonna check into that. EDM 5th's had a dome light (with map light) option. I'm gonna research how that was wired.

LED's kick @$s.

Nice idea Lindso. Ima do the same type thing to a 3g. But my goal is to add door lamps that illuminate or not based on the on/off switch of the dome light. In the SH when the door is open (say while working on the car) the door light stays on regardless of how the map light is switched, off or on.

Your car/progress keeps me trying to keep pace. You have to go see your car. Mine sit outside my window. And I'm winded from watching you. Keep up the good work.
Too bad the debt I've found myself in has developed quicker than the car! Worth it though. I'm going to apply for a new position at work soon that if I get it, I'll really help things out. Sooo..til then, back to random $3 mods here and there!

Thanks! I haven't decided what to do with them yet. Racon mentioned popping them open and painting them black. I've never done that before and I'm afraid to melt them and ruin them but I'm sure if I hang on to them long enough I'll try it out.

Lindso try using a heat gun it takes longer but it's a bit safer then the over cause you can control it. Or even a blow dryer will work that how I too the headlights you sent to me apart.

Honestly I just did this with my headlights. See my thread if you want to see pics, although I didnt paint them black I did a vinyl wrap inside. Its very easy to do, just use a heat gun, a vice grip and a screwdriver and work at it for 15 minutes. They come easy!

I'm with ya on the $3 mods. Sometimes they can be pretty darn profound. The $ spent adds up quick. I mean to tell ya when 00's start accumulating, they pile on quicker than the national debt at times. You are at 5 pages already!.

Keep in mind on the junkyard runs those little things like keepers, screws and grommets. I buy the ash tray from each prelude and fill it with little stuff along with the screws etc from the parts I'm buying. Later when the budget is tight but the urge to progress takes place, the addition of those little things that most wouldn't notice or care about can make a huge statement to those who do.
I say that because you seem to do that too.

Honestly, a blow drier sounds awful haha, but the heat gun definitely sounds appealing. I think I'll go balls deep and throw em straight in the oven, and just keep checking them with my Mechanix gloves on so I don't burn myself.

I figure if I can do the passenger one successfully, I'll time it and do just the same for the drivers side. On the other hand, I still have my passenger black housing, so if I **** up the passenger one the first time, I still have the drivers side to experiment on.

Thanks man, I did look through those pics probably 10 times :P I'll probably PlastiDip em.

Hell yeah I do that! I've got so many extra nuts, bolts, clips and other fasteners I had to start a 'Prelude' bolt bucket. I also like finding ways to do expensive mods myself that others had to pay a bunch for. Not to be like 'Hah, you just paid for that BS', but to say I did it. Like the Accord 3-pc rear lip- I see people selling that for $50-$80, and I'm like geeze I just paid the junkyard $3 for a small trim piece and $9 for two medium trim pieces!
Or like the red stitching I did on the inside. I TOTALLY cheaped out on that! Haha. But only you guys know I only threaded the stitching rather than doing it the right way. Shhh..

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

Heat gun.
Turn on a movie you've seen 100 times and do the deal in your den while watching an old favorite.
I usualy watch a Steve McQueen or Paul Newman flick while doing dremel work etc, since they were racers. And since you've seen it a million times, you'll stay focused at the task.

Being only several months into the 3g prelude I don't know what's been done by others in the past or even what is possible modification wise. But I get these notions at times that certain improvements in the creature comforts or certain parts from other Honda made cars will work on the prelude. All of which is being done on a low budget.
H3ll if I had all the $ I'd still be using junkyards parts if for no other reason than to take the best stuff from trashed cars and make mine nicer.

My 3rd 91 became o-ficially filled to the rafters today. A spoiler, a fender and two quarter panels took up a lot of space. There's still space for the little things though. I need a broke down school bus.

With as much as he has helped, its more like he found a car and I just bought it. OH WAIT that IS what happened.

Seriously, I'd not have done any of this if not for his help. And tools.

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

I learned last weekend that I was sent 85a Innovative Mounts. Explains the eyeball-vibrating ride. I don't imagine it'd be so crazy if I hadn't removed the balance shafts, but so far it seems like the company is working with me to get a set of 75a mounts.

Problem is, I gotta press out the old ones, and press in the new ones. Is there a special way to do this? Or just..press em and go?

Man that is really unfortunate they sent you the wrong mounts after all that work to get them in you have to rip them back out : /. Are they doing anything for your troubles?

Uuumm it kinda sounds like they're gonna at least be giving me the inserts for free. I'm assuming that anyway. I'm not gonna ask, I'll just be surprised and pissed if they ask me to pay for them. But if they get them to me for free, I guess what else should I expect them to do :/

It just sucks man. It's their own fault. You shouldn't have to go through all of that work again.

Yeah it definitely blows, but that's kinda been the story of my history with the Prelude haha. I'm mainly worried about the rear mount. I don't wanna have to take the damn IM off but..it is what it is.

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

If you have power steering u may want to remove the IM. If no PS lines you could manage to get the mount itself out. Is the mount a2 piece with a sleeve, or just one big hunk in a friction fit? The latter would need a press of some sort.

PS is there, so I gotta do it the hard way. On mount construction, I'm really not sure but but I'd assume no sleeve.

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

I'm planning on balance shaft delete too. So it's good to read your review about the 85's + googly eye syndrome ;) I can't imagine much speed would be noticeably sacrificed with a bit softer mount.. Maybe wheel hop or something.. Probably would be something you notice on the track as opposed to city streets.

Ooooh yeah wheel hop is non-existant with these things. They're really a sick set of mounts and I love the amount of feedback I get from them and how they perform, they just don't match the balance of stiffness and comfort I was aiming for when I began the tear down. Compared to stock though, I would much rather have these. I was fully prepared to keep them.

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

The sound system shakes the eyes more than anything really, that's the only thing holding me back from those 85's. Hmmm googly eye from no balance shafts plus 85's vibe, coupled with 45hz bass note could cancel each other out, thus leaving things shilky shmooth.... Just a dream? Or just reality? Ooooh, lol..

Seriously though, I'm trying to eliminate that and keep all the fancy stuff like 85's. I'm just wondering if balancing the whole rotational mass professionally would reduce that vibe by half. Are you familiar with the method where everything is balanced ? Pistons, rods, crank, everything is connected, spun and balanced ? It's expensive but can increasse dramatically the life of a race engine, responsiveness and cancel out all the unwanted vibe. That may be able to eliminate vibe and still keep the 85's. I've heard of people actually pouring concrete into the rubber mounts, lol. Fundamentalists !

Haha then you probably wouldn't notice a difference! I'll try to GoPro a video here in the next few days. Maybe I can stick the mount on the underside of the sunroof for a good example of the in-car experience.

Re: :::Linds-O::: 1995 SE/VTEC

People have survived all the cut springs fad without turning to jello. They may have been jello to begin with tho... Hi-YO!! :P

Go-pro would be cool. power getting put down to ground through 85's is sexy.

I'll put it this way;

I. Need. LSD.

Flooring it in first, I get wheel spin at my TQ peak between 6800-7400 RPM.

Then you gonna find yourself needing some type of launch control.. Unless both those wheels can grip like hell. I still havent felt a Lude with LSD
I always found it hard as hell to keep it at 5000ish and take off consistently.
