Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

Trust me I know. It'll get better with time but its a slow process. The owner before me decided that he wouldn't change the spark plugs, the wires, the oil, basically nothing. When I got her she had 6 codes being thrown. Egr code, vtec solenoid code, valves out of spec code, abs light on, air bag light on, I mean it was just so bad. I daily her so at first I was like whatever about the body, now I want the car to be all nice and shiny.

Body work will be done in about a week, and she will go to paint while I'm out of town on business .

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

So today I decided to use the 3M headlight restore kit to try and shine up my stock headlights. I'm content with the outcome but still would prefer new headlights or even just the plastic parts in the front. Here's the work

This is the headlight before

This was the first sanding:

Second sanding:

Clean up:

Done:

Driver headlight before:
[IMG]http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z303/DeadsEvolution1986/image-6.jpg[/IMG
1st sand:

2nd sand:

Finished:

Full look:

They came out ok, but these headlights have to be old. So thinking I should buy projector replacement head lights instead of doing a retro fit.

I think they turned out pretty well. I bet the light at night will be a little better now too.

Thanks man, ya I put them on and they did shine a little better. So retro fit these or new headlights?

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

The style and light output you can gain from a projector retrofit is supposedly well worth the money, if you have the money :) People will sell their retrofits sometimes on here or PreludePower for like $400-$600.

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

I can actually do the retro fit, but just thinking these headlights aren't all shiny.
But they do look much better, after the restore I actually put the in the oven and took them apart. After which I clean the inside of the lenses and they look even better

Lol well after a long "day" weight here you go. Minimal pictures but I will take some tonight

My driver headlight is bad so you can barely see it.

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

Terrible 10,000k bulbs came with them and they are not great at all. 10k is worthless in my opinion. Also I'm still working on aligning the head lights but they are close to being just right.

Is 10k illegal? I can't find any info, I live in New Mexico
But overall I'm happy

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

Do hid's have an amount of time they need to be broken in? I did some adjusting on my lights to fix the angles of where the light is hitting and either I adjusted correctly or the bulbs got brighter lol (obvious answer is my adjustment)

I only need to do some more adjustment on the left on and I'm done.

Re: :::Deadsevolution:::1997 Base

Those are effing bright! Very cool dude. Those are 10K? I thought they'd be more purple around that temp. I actually kinda like the way it looks, but still, for all they coyotes running around, get whiter ones if those aren't doing it for you.

I actually might leave the 10k in, they look great night once I set them.
I need to do the driver headlight some more however I'm in Phoenix for 3 weeks on business so it'll have to wait
