:::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

ChrisMario's 1993 Honda Prelude

-- 4. Generation --

Welcome to my ride thread!

Code:
Please be noted that this is my first ride thread, I have read
the rules and I tend to stick to them like glue. However, as this is an
European version, the word "trim model" isn't something that matters
over here. I really don't know what "trim" my car is. If it's a EX, DX,
Base, S, Si or what so ever. Thus, I chose to only write "4th Gen."
where I should write the trim model. All images used in this thread
are hosted on my server. No free photo-host service have been used!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that you've read all that, let's move on with some background story and "How I Met Your Mother" kinda stuff

My first car was a 1992 Honda Accord 2.0i. At the beginning, I only saw it "as a car" since I did not know what I was actually riding. After owning it for 6 months, I had to trash it because of too much rust etc. After this, I got to drive alot of other cars. VW Passat/Golf, Audi, Opel, Chrysler, Toyota, Mazda aaaand so on. A few years ago, when I winded up with some extra cash, a friend of mine gave me a heads up on a Honda Accord wich was for sale. We checked it out, and I bought it.

Now let me tell you, ladies and gentlemen. Picture this in real motion:

I remember I sat down in the driver's seat. Woah, what a COMFORT!
I started the engine and turned the steering wheel around. Woah, what a SERVO!
I drove away with petal-to-the-metal and... Woah, WHAT AN ACCELERATION! What a total driving comfort experience overall!! How the HELL could I just have trashed my old?! It was worth every PENNY!!!!!!!

So, yeah.. That's basically how I fell in love with Honda. I just didn't know how well I had it, untill I had been through several other cars before I got my hands on another Accord. Ever since, I've always driven Accord.

One month ago, I purchased this Prelude. The guy who sold it didn't know what he was giving away. I only payed like $1.750 USD for it, and over here, cars are more expencive in general. So it was a good buy in my honest opinion :) Theres some stuff that needs to be done, but I have already bought most of what I need to get this beauty shiny as heck ;)

The engine is the cheap-ass 2.0i with 16 valves, Single Over Head Camshaft.
Still, it's the fittest 2.0i I've ever driven. It's a lightweighted car, Honda engine wich keeps feeding with speed no matter how high RPM and the engine itself has 0 problems. So there's tons of potential with this one (:

Oh, and yes. It's my first Prelude ever ;b

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's move on to a list of what needs to be done. Like I said, I have already gotten most of the parts that I need. So give me a weekend, and it should be preeeetty close to a paint job! (:

* Need to replace the trunk lid (because of rust)
* Need to replace the rear bumper (because it's darn ugly)
* Need to redo bad work from previous owner on the rear wheel-arch
* Need to do some interior fixes (there's a few rip-up's and scratches)
* Need to replace that horrible exhaust before I turn into a loonie
* Need to do abit pre-work on the whole car before the paint-job.

The overall rust has only started, so I'm gonna be real quick and get it away before it spreads/eats up more.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHO WANT TO SEE SOME PICTURES?!
Most pictures have comments above them ;)

Had a little photo-shoot yesterday (:

BWAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!! Japaneeese Style!!! xO

When I got the car, it had SICK camber! This is something I fixed right away.
New front tires are on their way!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abit later, I cleaned the entire car inside. Waxed the dash-board with a special sponge we got over here wich contains a magical wax for interior vinyl. Makes it look like new! <3

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boring engine pictures..
I can't help it.. After seing so many 2.2 and 2.3 VTEC, I feel like a small fart in a big poop-world :b

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

!! WARNING !!
The following pictures will make any Prelude lover's heart break into pieces. But be not afraid, I intend
to fix everything! Make sure you check back to this thread every now 'n then for updates! (:

You can clearly see that the previous owner atleast have tried to fix the wheel-arch. They have done a terrible job..

The rear bumper has most likely been in a collision before. It has another color, it's full of cracks and bad paint job. I have the new one, will replace.

Same goes with the trunk-lid. It has rusted from the outside/-in, and a new one is in my garage. Replace will take place shortly! (:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So! If you read this line here, I assume you read it all. I hope you enjoyed browsing my thread, and I hope you'll check back in for updates. I can't wait to get started with everything!! (:

Thank you so much for taking your time to read my thread!

Re: :::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

** UPDATE **
So, I went to the junkyard since I have a friend working there who gave me a nice head's up on a red lude
wich had both the trunk-lid and the rear bumper in perfect condition.
I also ripped off it's backlights since they were as shiny as new!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you ever find your Prelude parked like this, call the Police.

Have you ever whined about small space in your Prelude? Stop it. You just ain't creative enough! :D

There we go, shiny new! (: You can't really see it that well on the picture, but mine are quite worn-out..

All together now, safe home! FAMILY PHOTO!! :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jupp, that's it for this tiiiiiny update. Next update(s) will be with full focus on getting my beauty even more beautiful! (;

Thank you for watching this thread!

Re: :::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

Overall that's a pretty clean car man. I'd get that rust fixed before it spreads anymore sooner than later just like you said, but yeah, I like it.

Yeah, it's pretty clean. That's why I found it 101% valuable for the money I payed for it.
It ain't really that much, and once I'm done I know I'll have one of the most awesomesesesest carz ever to roll the roadz! ^^, LoL ;p

Re: :::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

clean looking 4th gen shell in the junkyard...shame on whoever put it there. Also, looks like there are jdm sidemarkers on the front fenders...should've grabbed those too.

BRB wishing my lude was as pristine as a lude in the junkyard. -facepalm-

nice start man. in for more progress. show us what you got!

edit: did you put the rear fog light in the rear bumper or did you get it like that? you also have smoked sidemarkers on your front fenders. nice.

Re: :::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

I saw a decent kit (rebuild complete kit) for " ONLY " 19.000 Norwegian Kroner. Wich again is " ONLY " $3.322 US Dollars.

I'd love to go for a clean turbo machine, but it's too darn expensive for now...

The brand is "TurtleWax". Don't know if it's international or if it's only over here.. The sponge/pad itself is called "Gloss Finish - Cockpit Shine Pad"

Here's a photo:

Sooooo, I bought 2 brand new front tires today :) Gonna get 'em on tomorrow. Can't wait.. It's horrible to drive the car as it is right now.. \:
Getting into roundabouts in ~40 km/h makes the car slooooowly loose grip.. It's just horrible.. \:

in finland you have to take your car to VTT emission test and its something like 3000-4000e (over 4000$) when they test that the car with new/better engine works ok and has clean emissions and so on.

+ you have to buy all the turbo parts, upgrade suspension and brakes to match the VTI model

you dont have to take your car to those tests if its 1989 model and older

Aaaw, so now I have TWO confirmed followers! :D I'm flattered! <3

Sooo, anyways. I won't bring an update for every single screw I put in my car, but here's one that I feel desirve atleast 2 pictures and some text..

The tire swap!

Driving on the old front-tires has been pure hell since day #1.
So like I stated a couple times before; I've had enough. So I bought 2 new
tires for my front wheels. Now, for the first time ever, I got to feel the true
power of the Prelude. It just ain't fackin' ever gonna leave the road! Period!!
It's like it's glued or something! :b Extreme comfort and grip. Love it! ;-)

Work in Progress!

Old tire vs. new

Like I said; It's a *dream* to drive! (:

Re: :::ChrisMario::: 1993 4th Gen.

Alrighty! It's about time to fill you guys in. The lude is faaaar from forgotten.
I've bought myself a '96 Toyota Celica ST162 @ 150hp for the winter, and the Prelude
is safe and sound in a garage in the middle of the deepest forrest of the dark woods
of the ice cold country of the world; Norway.

I've noticed alot of you guys make a list over mods and "what 2 do", so I've done the same.
I didn't realize I had done and bought so much for my lude untill I started to write this list.. :P

Here we go!

# WHAT'S DONE

* Momo steering wheel
* Honda Primo safety-belt pads
* Chrome shift-knob with red numbers
* Black leather shift-boot with red stitches
* Sony XPlod CD/MP3/WMA Player with USB & AUX
* New tires (Rear: 225/45-17, Front: 215/40-17)

# TO DO & NEW PARTS
Note: Italic font means ordered, not yet received

* Full new paint job (same color)
* Carbon hood
* Tinted glass sunroof
* Aluminium Cold Air Intake Kit
* Break discs and pads (rear)
* 9 meters of 3M Carbon for interior details
* New trunk lid
* New rear bumper
* 3M Carbon Backing Honda Emblem
* HID/Xenon 6k kit
* Custom fog-lights
* JDM Glossy Sidemarkers
* FAST Car Decal Sticker (Foo Kin Fast)
* New tail lights (Nope, not those ugly Lexus style ones. OEM)
* Brand new rims.

[b]# GENERAL MAINTENANCE

* New engine oil (15.10.2012)
* New spark plugs (15.10.2012)
* Full engine wash (15.10.2012)

Here's a photo of my new rims. I love 'em :)

Funny that you asked.

Here's what's happened so far:

I got my winter-car. A Toyota Celica '86 GT wich had automatic transmission.
The transmission went straight back to Japan the hard way (smashed) and
it wasn't my fault \:

Anyways! I winded up with a freakin' "Hyundai Atos". A mini Yaris with 1.0L engine...

So. After having that a couple of days, I borrowed it away to my sister who managed to crash it into a curbe, resulting the front tire on the left side to go *all* the way in.. So, it's been fixed now. Yesterday I signed contract for a garage, so I'm back on track ;)

I have a winter car to get me from A to B.
I have a garage to work on my Prelude.
I have all the stuff I need.
I have plenty of time.

It's on, b1tches. ;b

Stay tuned! :) I'll keep posting pictures and updates frequently! (:
