:::sevs753::: 98 Base

I bought my Prelude last fall to replace the problematic Suzuki Gand Vitara my parents gave me to drive. I love the car. The Lights and wheels are courtesy of the PO.

I'm planning on rebuilding the engine and leaving it stock. The car is my DD and will stay that way so I don't plan to go FI.

As it sits today. It's been a wet day.

Parked next to an S2000 at work. Sorry for the terrible cell pic.

Best photo from a small photoshoot a while ago.

Goodlooking car. I am just not a fan of aftermarket tails on that car. But props keeping it stock under the hood!

Thanks, guys!
I have OEM taillights on the way from a member here. I'll take pics when they arrive and are installed.

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

Double post!

I started doing a bunch of maintenance on my prelude. Lots of pics when its done.

Ive run into many problems getting the front discs off. The retaining screws are rusted to hell and the heads are stripped. After breaking three drill bits and snapping the end off of a reverse threaded thing (not sure of the actual name) in the screw, I decided to leave it to the pro's. Now I just have to get the rest of the car put back together so i can drive it to the shop...

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

triple post!

I'm getting ready to toss the car out the figurative window. It's fighting me every step of the way to do any repairs. After having to pay a shop to get the front discs off (I felt really stupid when I told them what i needed done. They kept thinking i needed caliper bolts removed.), I now can't get the axle nuts off.

I've soaked them in pb blaster several times. My impact wrench does nothing. when i attempted to use a breaker bar, the car just rolled backward OVER the blocks I put behind the wheels.

Tomorrow, i'll be trying to heat them with a torch and use a breaker bar + cheater pipe to free them. I'm going to park another car right behind it to prevent it from rolling over the blocks.

I can't believe it's giving me this much trouble just to replace the ball joints...

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

Fixed a rattling that i though was blown shocks. Turns out one of the caliper bolts on the rear passenger brake was not screwed in all the way and was letting the caliper bounce around.

Also picked up a set of SH wheels for my winter tires.

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

As of right now, It's just repairs and maintenance. I'm finishing up college this fall and money is very tight. Next summer, when i can afford it, I'm going to rebuild the engine and upgrade it at the same time. Cams, euro manifold, etc.

While the engines out, its going to be repainted (got some body rust and clear coats in bad shape.) It's also going to get coilovers, upgraded brakes, foglights, exhaust (header back), oem spoiler and oem lips. New summer wheels are also in the works.

I'm just too in love with this car to sell it or leave it stock. =D

Cool. I'll keep you in mind when I have the money. The in-progress repairs are creating some unexpected costs.

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

Finally got the front lower ball joints replaced. It was an adventure and a half. I got an alignment and all was well until I went on the highway. The front end seems to wander the faster I go. I think the tie rod ends are shot. I'm going to take it back in for an inspection this weekend and go from there.

Also, my plans for mods are being scaled way back. Saving for an R32 Skyline. Only 2 years until the R32's start becoming legal and I will be one of the first to import one.

Re: :::sevs753::: 98 Base

Not much has been done lately. I got the O2 sensors replaced. The post-cat one was causing a CEL and i figured I'd have the main one replaced as well since they were the same age. The clutch is engaging pretty high but isn't slipping so i figure I'll probably need a new one in a couple months.

I'm going to be doing a bit of work in the spring to keep it running well. All belts (including timing) will be replaced. Water pump will be replaced and a manual tensioner for the timing belt will be retrofitted since the auto one likes to loose tension. New clutch, Valve adjustment and new sparkplugs and wires.

I'm planning on keeping this as my DD since next summer I plan on buying something RWD, either german or japanese and from the early '90s.

I've also added these. The preludezone.com sticker was made by tunerstickers.com and turned out really good.

Thats really all for now. Once the weather gets colder, I'm going to put my winter tires + wheels on and keep driving.

$3 +$2.50 shipping. Shipping is expensive because its coming from Canada. Its also a flat rate so its the same no matter how many stickers you order. I'll attach the picture I sent him when i get my laptop back tomorrow.
